Here's the thing guys, this CANNOT happen at apex. On our biggest stage where we get the most publicity with big international players in the mix we absolutely cannot allow 10+ minute matches to occur. They drag on and the general viewer does not find them entertaining, nor are they very fun for at least 1 of the players in most cases.

That is not a Hyrule thing, that is a for the good of the future of the game thing. Which means sometime between now and Apex we need to have a rule-set that won't allow 10+ min games. This means we will have to experiment at tournaments between now and then with different rule-sets and see how they work. If we sit around for months and all of a sudden its December and people say "oh hey maybe now it would be okay to change the rules", that would be really dumb of us. We are on a 5 month timer to get our rules right.

there was a community poll three months ago about banning hyrule and the vast majority was for keeping it... most of the change of opinion is based on tournaments in those three months.
though most of our opinion should just be based on reason/understanding of the game

even disregarding everything else potentially wrong with it, tornadoes alone should be enough to ban it. you would never see a stage with random hazards that are occasionally faster than usual in competitive melee. these things really do affect the outcomes of games, and for some reason people seem to always overlook this. just because it's "easier" to combo someone to death in this game doesn't make dumb stage hazards any more legit

also, Japan is not "campy" because they play with 4 stocks. they're more patient because of the limited amounts of DI in their game. they know how well they can punish each other, and as such will be more hesitant to approach unless they are reasonably sure they will get a good hit. in general NA is dumber in approaching because we assume DI will get us out of things.

there's a distinct difference between deliberately running/hiding from your opponent in an attempt to stall/rack up percentage and trying to slowly feel out your opponent's moves while gaining control of certain parts of the map in order to get a first hit. both of these are possible on hyrule; only one of these is possible on dreamland.
