Roughly 20 pages late, BUT WHO CARES????

I really like this roster. First of all, this roster is really different from other ones, and I like the disposition of the characters.
Secondly, you did choose plausible characters, and you added reps where we need them (DK, Fire Emblem, Metroid, KI and not Mario, Kirby or Starfox).

Thank you! I was going for a roster that focused on filling the necessary blanks, rather than adding some fan favorites and some of the necessary characters. I think it'll happen more like this time because of how unique characters seems to be the main focus of newcomers this time around, so since all of the necessary characters have such a huge potential to be really diverse from the rest of the cast... It'd make sense we'd see a lot more of the demanded characters this time around since, you know, they've got a lot to make them unique.

I really like the fact that you included Robin as she/he is my most wanted newcomer, but truth be told, I don't think we can see her/him without Chrom playable.

I believe Robin's position in Awakening is enough to allow him/her be playable without Chrom. But that is just me, so I dunno.

I would fill the last slot with a new IP character (TW101, Miyamoto's new IP or original smash character) and this roster would be near perfect for me.

If I was going for addition characters, I'd probably look into a new ip character / Zelda character / or F-Zero dude.

Well I've mentioned this before...

But consider the fact that Zant may or may not appear again. Let's say Sakurai knows he isn't. Then why add a character who would fade into Smash obscurity after the title he appears in? Same with Midna, same with Ghirahim. They aren't characters that would last in Smash Bros. as far as longevity in the series.

I mean by common sense, it should be assumed that Sakurai looks at characters to see if they would be good as an addition, because why waste the time on a character that would be replaced in the next game.

THAT is why one off characters hardly have big chances. I love Ghirahim, but I don't see him getting in.

How is there no variety in that? You have a electric mouse, a pink volatile ballon that sings and can kill while napping, a steel spiked blue jackal who talks and uses his soul to fight, a tamer of said pokemon beast being able to summon a fire breathing dragon a Plant like dinosuar and a turtle that can control and shoot water, then we have a legendary genetic pokemon who is said to be the most powerful in the world...

That all seems very unique to me, best solution is just get use to the great pokemon we have now because they dont seem like we are getting anything different smash wise.

Quick off-topic post: I just watched an episode of Soul Eater for the first time. I think I'll try a few more episodes to see if they interest me.

I'm probably going to try watching a few episodes of One Piece too.

As for Pokemon, yeah, there's plenty of unique variety with Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Pokemon Trainer, Lucario and Mewtwo.

Honestly I'd love to see some more Pokemon characters like Zoroark getting in, and also Pichu returning so long as none of them get in the way of Mewtwo or any of the Pokemon characters in Brawl, but I can't really Zoroark or Pichu getting in at this point. (maybe the latter as DLC if Sakurai decides to add DLC characters at some point)

My main point against Vaati was that he had nothing in Brawl, and hasn't been in a Zelda game since. Diddy Kong, Ivysaur, ROB, and Wolf all were in games from 2001-2008. So they weren't in the position Vaati is in now. Nice try.

With the absence of the Roster Discussion thread, to hopefully have on topic discussions, I made this thread so that we could discuss rosters that people propose as their predictions.

Here is mine below

Here is my updated roster that totals at 49 character slots, with 53 total.

The group of characters at the bottom is a pool of potential DLC characters in case DLC is used (note that Shulk, Dillon and Isaac are in there in case they do not make the initial roster). Bomberman I just personally think would be awesome.

Explanation:
Basically all vets are in there because I want all vets to return. As far as the newcomers...

Ridley,Megaman, K.Rool, Mewtwo, Palutena and Roy are all self-explanatory.
Shulk is one of my most wanted newcomers, and I do expect him to be playable.
Chrom is a character I happen to like, and if we get four FE characters, I feel as if it would be him.
Lloyd Irving I happen to like a hell of a lot more than Pac-Man, and I find it likely that Namco will get a rep.
Isaac because I think he has quite a bit of potential to be a cool character.
Little Mac because I think he should have been there awhile ago if you ask me.
Takamaru because I find him to be a likely retro.
Paper Mario because I see him as a very unique Mario newcomer (not that the others aren't)
Dillon I see as a representative of the e-shop and it's success

Feel free to discuss other rosters and your own! Hopefully this does not get locked. Please stay on topic!

If Namco gets a rep, I think it will be PacMan, even though Lloyd is way cooler.

I'd be interested in Mach Rider. Not sure why, but I feel like he would be the most interesting to play as. Well, if the found a way to incorporate the bike properly that is.

Hakkun would make an awesome retro character, and the nintendo wiki says that the game was popular enough to get a sequel and the game has been released on the virtual console so some people must know who he is, but anyway I feel like he'd be really cool and unique

Actually Duck Hunt's the only retro IP I have any experience with now that Ice Climbers and Pit are already in Smash and Little Mac no longer counts as a retro. I guess I'd side with Lip, purely because she's not Takamaru.

Hakkun looks interesting, but I'm really clueless about what he can do.

Two retro characters? My Mach Rider desire is already pretty well stated, but I'm not sure what else I'd want. Takamaru seems pretty likely, I guess. I don't really like Lip all that much, and honestly I'm not familiar with the rest of my options. I guess I would say Mach Rider + an obscure character I wouldn't know until after they were revealed.

Sadly, no FE character comes close to the likes of Batta, Glass, Denning, Cervantes, and Gheb. They are so STRONK that Sakurai feels that they are TOO STRONK to be included!
