That's funny, because I feel a new DK rep is one of the most likely things to happen character wise.I don't think we'll see a new rep for Donkey Kong, period.
Lucas is at the top of the cut list imo, he's probably the character who currently brings the least to the roster. The fact that he hasn't seen an overseas release and is from a very obscure franchise to begin with also means that less people will have an attachment to him outside of Smash, thus cutting him won't wreak as much damage as cutting Ike or Wolf for example. This comes from someone who has played Mother 3 btw.If they do end up having to cut characters I feel Jigglypuff and Lucas would be the first to go, which I know a lot of people disagree with.
Duon resembled Pakia and Dialga or was it just me?I kind of liked Duon and Galleom honestly, though I would certainly have appreciated it if bosses from other franchises were included instead.
Donkey Kong is the 4th best selling franchise in the game iirc, the fact that it's being treaten on levels with the lowest selling franchise (Mother) is absolutely ridiculous. A Donkey Kong newcomer is probably the only thing I'm 100% will happen in this game, the question is whether it'll be Dixie or K. Rool.I don't think we'll see a new rep for Donkey Kong, period. If they do put one in, maybe Dixie. I doubt it though.
And Lucas can use PK Love.Sakurai should change Ness Final Smash to the "PSI Rockin"
That hasn't happened at all, though. K. Rool is still amongst the most requested characters in both the west and Japan. For K Rool, the more time goes on, the more I start leaning towards Dixie. Its unfortunate, because even Sakurai addressed his popularity in MELEE, but as time passes, less people become familiar with his character and he slowly fades into obscurity.
This is the sad truth, he offers a congruent play-style to Ness. The characters play differently, but the play-style is the same. So Lucas mains can fall back on a character with similar tools/tech. Most likely... the character that they used prior to Brawl. However, I find it disheartening as he is the more fun character in my opinion. I can't play Ness very efficiently and I am aLucas is at the top of the cut list imo, he's probably the character who currently brings the least to the roster. The criteria was to make people want to play the game iirc, at this point there's no single potential newcomer which will sell more copies, they're all in already.I wonder if Tabuu will actually make people want to buy the game if he's included.
As stated in Sakurai's criteria.
That and also Ness already represents everything that Lucas does. As much as I love Lucas there really is no need for him.Lucas is at the top of the cut list imo, he's probably the character who currently brings the least to the roster. Even though I think Earthbound is a million years better than Mother 3, thus I like Ness more than Lucas, I also find Lucas more fun to play in Smash. He doesn't feel as clunky. This is the sad truth, he offers a congruent play-style to Ness. The characters play differently, but the play-style is the same. And Pokemon Trainer. I think everyone knows how I feel about him.
Does not compute.Guys, I know people hate talking about relevancy (so do I), but let's take a moment and really consider who is the least relevant in the following list of characters: Lucario, Ike, Wolf, Lucas, Jiggilypuff, ROB, and Pokemon Trainer. If YOU HAD to arrange these characters in order from most relevant to least, how would you order them? And when I say relevancy, I mean relevancy in Nintendo's community today. I'm curious as to what you guys think.
It will have an antithetical effect on me, I will actually NOT want to buy the game.I wonder if Tabuu will actually make people want to buy the game if he's included.
As stated in Sakurai's criteria.
Mewtwo and Ridley might create some turbulence. The criteria was to make people want to play the game iirc, at this point there's no single potential newcomer which will sell more copies, they're all in already.
I have no clue what the hell you are babbling on about.I suppose I should explain what I was talking about yesterday like I said I would...

Pokémon Trainer (3 relevant Pokémon beats out 1 relevant Pokémon) > Lucario > Wolf > Ike > R.O.B (mario kart ds lol) > Lucas > Jigglypuff.Guys, I know people hate talking about relevancy (so do I), but let's take a moment and really consider who is the least relevant in the following list of characters: Lucario, Ike, Wolf, Lucas, Jiggilypuff, ROB, and Pokemon Trainer. As much as they're wanted I don't think they're going to move any copies. I mean, one or two people might not have bought Brawl for the sole reason that Mewtwo was cut. I'm fairly certain Sakurai doesn't care about those two people anyways. Ridley, nah, he's a character only hardcore Nintendo fans know very well, even I admit that I'll buy the game whether or not he's in despite being my favorite Nintendo character, heck, I did the same for Brawl. Sure they'd hype things up, but I don't believe they're going to make a noticeable difference in sales.Mewtwo and Ridley might create some turbulence.

Didn't know that. I'll retract my foolish and uneducated statement then, I throw my chips in on Dixie as wellDonkey Kong is the 4th best selling franchise in the game iirc, the fact that it's being treaten on levels with the lowest selling franchise (Mother) is absolutely ridiculous. A Donkey Kong newcomer is probably the only thing I'm 100% will happen in this game, the question is whether it'll be Dixie or K. Rool.
Honestly, to my knowledge if you put Pokemon Trainer in the front of that list, I would say you had it from the get go. Pokemon Trainer is insanely popular and relevant with the new anime, and he's famous as one of the most powerful trainers to ever be fightable. He's also an actual protagonist Lucario is the first pokemon you get to see Mega Evolve in X & Y and has remained a reasonably steady fan favourite. Ike is the main character of a game that has begun to age slightly, but is still important. Wolf is the antagonist of a franchise that is rapidly fading out hard; I would strongly argue that we do not need three reps from it anymore, especially where they do not offer anything spectacularly different from each other. Lucas is the protag of one game that was japan only that came out a year ago; no one can debate that. Jiggly was a character in an anime, an a smash character. ROB was a hardware accessory that got some cameos in other games.Guys, I know people hate talking about relevancy (so do I), but let's take a moment and really consider who is the least relevant in the following list of characters: Lucario, Ike, Wolf, Lucas, Jiggilypuff, ROB, and Pokemon Trainer. Why not both???Donkey Kong is the 4th best selling franchise in the game iirc, the fact that it's being treaten on levels with the lowest selling franchise (Mother) is absolutely ridiculous. A Donkey Kong newcomer is probably the only thing I'm 100% will happen in this game, the question is whether it'll be Dixie or K. Rool.
He's also far and away the most work as a character. I feel like they might put in Charizard but cut Squirtle and Ivysaur. Hard to say though. I do agree on your point with relevancy though.Heck, at this point it could easily be argued that Pokémon Trainer is more relevant than Mewtwo honestly. He has an anime special centered all around him, he has 3 relevant Pokémon who are all available in X & Y and all have Mega Evolution (one of them even has two), and all have been used as the primary means of promotion for the game (the commercials have variants with all 3 starters, but in general treat Charizard like a king.) Game Freak will definitely want him to return, there's no character other than Pikachu that they should want in the game as badly.
That'd be great, buuuuuut I'm not sure what the chances are of it happening. If they include K. Rool first and then later include Dixie as a last minute clone, or integrate Dixie into Diddy's moveset, then it could happen, but I don't see both being a priority honestly. Why not both???
Yeah, worst case scenario is that it's going to be cut down to only Charizard, but theHe's also far and away the most work as a character. I feel like they might put in Charizard but cut Squirtle and Ivysaur. Hard to say though. I do agree on your point with relevancy though.
Wasn't Red the character in the special?Heck, at this point it could easily be argued that Pokémon Trainer is more relevant than Mewtwo honestly. Sindel Dixie actually sounds pretty fun. Although, I am still not too receptive to the notion as I can literally only view her as Diddy with a weave.Dixie can be pretty unique, having a moveset that mostly consists of attacking with her hair. Also what does K. Rool have going against him other than not being in a major DK game in a while?
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... um... Bayonetta.So who do you prefer for a hair-based moveset, Bayonetta or Dixie Kong?
I will admit this is very much second-hand information but I believe there is some licensing issues between Nintendo and Rare, where Rare owns K. Rool. This is a huge problem because it's unlikely Nintendo will bother with trying to buy him back; Diddy, who also was said to suffer from these problems, is a classic, well-known and well-loved side kick. K. Rool, on the other hand has a much smaller fanbase by comparison, especially outside the smash community. Especially where they have been ignoring him in recent games, it seems unlikely they'd put him in, even if they did manage to get him. I suspect he will be relegated to the past, much like Donkey Kong Junior.Dixie can be pretty unique, having a moveset that mostly consists of attacking with her hair. Also what does K. Rare has nothing to do with the Kremlings. K. Rool has been in a fair share of Donkey Kong games after Rare was bought by Microsoft, Super Mario Sluggers included. K. Rool is 100% owned by Nintendo, otherwise he wouldn't even have a trophy in Brawl.I will admit this is very much second-hand information but I believe there is some licensing issues between Nintendo and Rare, where Rare owns K.
