If a new series comes out and the main protagonist is supported for smash, it is not MUH Recency
But if a new game comes out, then the protagonist could be argued as a recency thing.

Lucas getting in over Jeff or Paula was an example of MUH RECENCY.
And it happene in Brawl.

In the pick of the day, he was talking about how pictures of development on the site so far may not be the same as the final end product. I could see Sakurai trolling fans, making them believe that he is once again a move, and then BAM! Confirmation. (though I want Bowser Jr. more, I'd be thrilled if Toad got in...)

This is implying any Mother character would have gotten in if Lucas did not exist. Or that Lucas wouldn't get in over them if he was from previous Mother games.

To be truthful, I'm just predicting that Dr. Kawashima will happen. That's why I created the thread for him, I don't recall saying Dr. Kawashima is a deserving character. I just see his uniqueness that could relate to the inclusion of WFT and Villager.

My point:
  • Adding a Villian (not a reason to have 3 Mother characters)
  • Said character is unique (not a reason to have 3 Mother characters)
  • having a character not as highly requested as many others (not a reason to have 3 Mother characters)
  • Representing the last remaining Mother game (probably IS a reason to have 3 Mother characters. Yet possibly still not because Mother 1 is so similar to Mother 2.)
So there is no reason to have 3 Mother characters except possibly that last one. It's the most and probably only justifiable reason for 3 Mother characters to be playable in the game.

I really wish you wouldn't try to be condescending when you're the one currently with more opposition than support to your logic. :(

Why is the last reason more of a reason than any other? I was talking about in the context of DLC. Adding a character that represents another chunk of the series (something characters like Ganondorf and Ike do to a large degree) is a perfect reason to include them. I am not saying EarthBound needs or even deserves 3 characters, not at all. What I am saying, however, is that in the scenario EarthBound gets a third character, Porky would objectively be the better choice.

Now if you could name to me a series in Brawl that follows the same criteria as your reason, I'd sooner see the validness of your point. Who else added a character to represent the last remaining game in their series? If there isn't one, can you tell me the closest thing we got to that? And if the closest thing we got to that is a stretch as it is, why are you using it as reasoning in the first place?

I wasn't

And we've never had a character ADDED TO A FRANCHISE for uniqueness or being a villian. We had Roy get in over someone who was already planned, but Fire Emblem already warranted had 2 characters planned
