RICK THE HAMSTER
Rick the Hamster is one of Kirby's Animal Buddies originating from Kirby's Dreamland 2. Since then, he has made appearences in other Kirby games, notably Kirby's Dreamland 3 and now Kirby Star Allies.
Why Rick?
"Out of all of Kirby's allies (and enemies), why should we consider Rick?" I hear you asking. Well, Rick was THE Kirby companion up until Kirby 64, being pretty much the mascot to the whole "Animal Buddy" gimmick Kirby's Dream Land 2 and 3. While the case may be that Kirby has more notable allies now, the Animal Buddies were the first playable characters in the Kirby franchise other than Kirby himself. You might add "Well, that's all three of them from Kirby's Dreamland 2, not Rick specifically" And while you are right, Rick was the first animal buddy obtained, and the first one to show up in the intro. Also, Rick was the ONLY animal buddy to show up as a trophy in Melee.
Move Potential
Solo Rick
Rick has plenty of abilities to work with from both Kirby's Dreamland 2 as well as the extra CLEANING ability from Kirby's Dreamland 3, as seen below. In addition to the abilities below, Rick can also inhale like Kirby and King Dedede. Rick also has the ability to stomp on enemies. This is a unique feature about Rick that nobody else in kirby really takes advantage of. If this ability was integrated in smash, just imagine how easy footstooling would be with him.
Rick, Coo and Kine
While Rick definitely has a lot going for him moveset-wise, the recent addition of the Animal Buddies in Kirby Star Allies has all three combined into one playable entity. This entity is very well off, and could easily translate into Smash. Changing into Coo with an aerial or a double jump, or changing into Kine when doing certain moves or swimming and changing back to Rick upon landing on the ground can work seamlessly, as it works fine in Kirby Star Allies.
