Would anyone be intrested in a active SoCal power ranking? I sure would, I know I will be no where near the rankings, but It could keep melee more conpeitive here in Cali, discuss your veiws and how it would be done, I have some ideas on a simple .php script to easily keep it updated.

This is for Melee

LOLOL

Yes, I'm horribly insecure, so I attempt to make myself feel better by ****talking randoms on some online forum.

And you're somehow trying to imply this while subtly slipping in your own verbal jibe in the same sentence? If anything, you're insecure child who feels the need to point out the seemingly "bad" behavior of others on a public online forum.

Wasn't looking to start any **** with you, and yet, you feel the need to call me out based on some ******** reason or another.

I'm starting to think rankings are pointless. Everyone knows who is good already, there's no point in adding human err into the process.

Clearly Socal became 5 times better after the rankings started. Clearly the community grew in massive numbers after rankings were started. Clearly the majority of tournament hosts had a basis for their seeding. Clearly...

It's not all about finding out who's best, it's more about the benefits that come along with knowing who's ranked where.

Reasons for rankings:
1.Community may boom like in the past
2.Players get better to become higher on ranks
3.High level players will most likely care more about when the win or lose adding a competitive edge to the game, also adding a skill-based seeding like in the past.
4.Players with higher skill become more well known in the community

These are only a few possible outcomes resulting in a active power ranking, who knows maybe more activity like this will result in a big boom in melee once again.

Had no idea of mango bringing this up. Even though I think a thread dedicated of making a Power Ranking is much easier to read through.

Yes, but wouldn't make sense since its a separate topic to have a separate thread, not added in with a bunch of other topics?

This is a good point, power rankings do have a purpose beyond simply creating drama between certain players.

Yeah, the second you put up a ranking of the top 10 players, instantly everyone and their mother who plays Smash wants to be on that list. Making the sheer number of players and level of competiveness rise. Resulting in more skilled Smashers.
