I find myself explaining the same concepts over and over to new groups of people. So, I decided to start a daily smash blog to help address many of these issues in detail. For those still scratching their heads, I like discussing the more subtle aspects of the smash community rather than the current big news (primarily the DOJO updates).

Enjoy! I have allowed anonymous comments, so feel free to reply there or here. It does not matter to me. Let me know what you think! And yes, I will still be posting weekly episodes of SmashTV on the main Smash Blog.

TOMORROW: Blood, Sweat, and Tiers

Pretty cool.
But Mic locked my videos thread 'cause it "sounds exactly like what [they] do with the blog". This'll probably be locked too.

EDIT: His exact words:
"Almost like what we do on www.smashbrawl.com

And by almost I mean exactly, but with less waiting for it to load."

Sweet. Now we get Audio (Youko's Podcast), Video (Gimpy's Video Blogs) and text (your Blog) to keep us occupied until February. I love Smashboards...

I certainly hope not. I analyze completely different aspects of smash. The main Smash Blog seems to focus on big news and big speculation. I focus more on demographics and player behavior. We'll see what happens, though. ;)

I am also open to the idea of allowing other writers to submit to my blog. If you are interested, PM me with your idea and a possible blog post. It may take you a while to fully understand where I am headed with this blog, but if you think you have the gist, let me know.

 Ummm... I will put that on my list... If I absolutely run out of ideas, I will be sure to write that one up. XD
Nice, find some lazy artists to aid your cause.

You should also do one called

''You are a scrub''

and the tone of the blog entry would be directed towards a hypothetical someone who is a scrub and youd list reasons why, and itd be funny.

Do I not do that all over the forums? Only, I do it to real scrubs, I guess.

Yeah, what im thinking about is like a kind of harsher version of Sirilin aimed at scrubs, explaining what they do that keeps em from getting better and that why casual and competitive alike are ANNOYED by scrub behaviour.

harsh, but diplomatic. Witty but bitingly true, thats what Im suggesting anyway. I'd write my own blogs but I dont have a green name like you, green is cooler than what I have.

Maybe you should write one about how using derogatory terms like "scrub" to describe anyone that doesn't agree with your beliefs concerning Smash only serves to cement the negative stereotypes commonly associated with competitive players?

lol about derogatory and using it to oppose ones beliefs concerning smash. If you don't like the competitive mindset of do anything to win that is legal at each specific tourney, then you are a scrub. Scrubs got negative sterotypes by how much they whine. So yeah, don't whine and you will be fine.

I think you slightly misread Zek's words. Zek is just pointing out that throwing the term "scrub" around (however true it may be) drastically lowers the chances of casual players seeing the competitive players' point of view. In any debate/discussion, throwing out insults hurts the relationship and shifts the mood over to a flame war instead of a intelligent discussion.

Some scrubs deserve it based on how they act, but many suffer needless flames.

Beliefs? Everything is founded in logic. Everything is allowed in competitive smash, except items are turned off and stages that can easily be used to garuntee a win are banned. Everything people do is availible to everyone else, and game breaking glitches / stall tactics are banned.

Tourneys are really fair, and fun. If you have some different view on how competitive smash should be played, aside from maybe like suggesting a DE-BAN for a stage or something, you're probably havent come up with something everyone will like.

And really, even if you're a technical skill god melee, SMASH DI is everything, I can not stress this enough to newer players in the competitive scene.

Scrub is a very applicable term to a counter productive mindset that will hinder you ability to achieve not only in a semi meaningless video game like smashbros, but also in life.

However Zek you have a good point. No one really bothers to look up the meaning of scrub and they think its just another insult like b**** or motherf***er.

Scrubs are still for the lose though, just for the love of god dont throw the term around unless you actually know what you're talking about.

Well, as long as scrubs don't whine I don't mind. That is all I am saying. lol People seem to not know the definition scrub so things get out of hand.

Why don't we just... Transform this thread into another "potentially sucking" kind of thread. You know, it has potential for epicness. We just need to get the rest of the gang's as*** in here.

And Dylan's already kicking some *** so we might as well start now.

Oh jeez Buzz don't let your thread degrade to this. I'm really looking forward to reading your blog but if this turns into another "worried about brawl sucking" thread it would be very disappointing...

We're not so different, you and I.

*cough*

My blog has been running for about 3 weeks now. I'm really liking it. With updates, there's really never a lack of things to discuss.
