I'm just announcing that there is a free tournament at the university I go to, which is Nova Southeastern University. It is in the Alvin Sherman Library. and it is from 1pm to 3 pm.
This is more of a fun thing because:
The bulletin board doesn't have contact information nor any details on the rules of the tournament.
So if anyone want to go, let me know.
Update: 9/10
Well, I found out that it is hosted by a sector of Library itself, called Teen Corner, of the University. It does have contact phone number so I'll see what I can do on monday in calling them for rules, time schedule, equipment etc.
here is the link if you want to check it out yourself and call personally

Also to those that are coming, I would like to know who would be able to contribute TVs, Gamecubes, and/or memory cards if the library would allow it for a more efficient tourny just in case if they would allow help.
Update 9/11
I wasn't able to speak to the coordinator of the program, but to the supervisor. She was only able to tell me that the coordinator won't be avialable till wednesday.
Also, she mention that the age is only from 12-18, but she said I could try to speak with the coorinator to work something out, and that they only have two tvs.
To everyone:
If I can't solve these issues, who would be willing to go for a smashfest instead and bringing tvs and GC and maybe have a mini tournament on our own?
We could have it separate at the Flight Deck of the University with the one TV they have, its a big one, not sure if it is a regular or plasma though. Or we could go to the Parker buidling of the Univeristy and hook each GC to the projectors, which would have lag.
We have two GCs, one from my friend and the other, which is university own.
Update 9/12
The coordinator says that people over 18 can come, just need to watch language.
The coordinator also says that it is okay to bring extra GCs TVs memory cards to help the tourny. There are few outlets so we'll need a surge protector.
And she would also would like those bringing the equipment to sign a document saying that it's not their responsibility it something happens with the equipment (just a safety issue, so they won't get sued or anything)
Also, the coordinator says that would could speak to the hosts running the tournament at the tourny to see if they would change the format (tournament brackets from Smash, time, items, etc.).
She also said that it is kept simple was because there was confusion in doing the brackets so that is why they used the tournament bracket in the game. We could try to let them know about the bracket program and a person knowledgeable enough could educate them.
Update 9/14
Go to top for directions, the links should help you.
To everyone:
I will most likely not participate or at least leave early if we do an additional smashfest/tournament after this tourny hosted by the library.
However, the I could escort you all to the location where you all could continue the smashfest or dollar tourny if you decide to do so after the tournament hosted by the library, and help set up.

The placing of who people faced was done by picking numbers from the towel. For those who have experience in doing brackets, especially double elimination could give me advice for future tournies. Plus you could give me advice for pools too if it is ever needed in the future.
