Hmm I'm not sure if there is already a topic about this.
But yeah, I've always loved the Resident Evil series and this game brought it back to life. I loved the storyline as well as the overall feel of the game. (I got it for PS2). I would definetly suggest this game to anyone who is a gamer.

And can't wait for RE5!

I cant wait for it either and im loving the multi player thing with sheva. I honestly do feel for what ive seen so far that they can do a bit more, and so far i havent seen any powerful weapons, which would be really nice.

They didn't show any good weapons in the RE4 in most of the early videos, mainly the pistol, hand grenade and the shotgun so I imagine it'll be the same with RE5. You'll have to wait until they show ore gameplay or the game is released to see more weapons.

I still haven't got around to buying RE4 yet though. I plan to buy it for the Wii but last time I bought a game it took 2 months to get here. I might go for the PC version if it's available digitally distributed.

I managed to play most of RE4 when a friend had it though, it was some of the best gameplay I've experienced in a long time. From the story mode with to the extra modes like Mercenaries, it was great.

well i do hope they have much more in store for us when it comes to re5. The game looks beautiful so far, but ive notice the item box dosent act as a pause option, i hope they fix that.

I love Re4, so good, boss battles, too good. KRAUSER AND LEON'S KNIFE SCENE WAS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care how old it is, it is still one of the greatest games ever conceived by Mankind. Anyone who has not played this game through needs to get their gamercard revoked.

Nah, the iron maidens are the spiky regenerators.

But anyway, I'm playing through again right now on my GCN version. My favorite Mercenaries character? Krauser, hands down. He's just too beastly, especially with his demon arm. And yes, the knife fight between Leon and Krauser was awesome.

I lost in that knife fight so many times my first time. I either pressed the wrong buttons or pressed them too slow. Took me around 8 minutes because of the length of the cutscene and how many times I lost.

lol, wow, well every one is normally paying attention to the conversation that leon and krauser are having at that time, so no one ever gets it the first time. i got it on my 3rd try

The game was fun and definitely is a tie between that and the first one for creepiest experience. I got really tired of the Wiimote controls about half-way through, but I trekked on.

I am playing the side unlockable missions then probably selling it to put a pre-order on RE5. I can never see myself just playing it through for fun.

Playing it through a second time is major fun, especially if you have the hand cannon.

I just started playing it again and realized what an amazing game it is. Also, the knife fight with Krauser was one of the coolest things ever in a video game. I really didn't have any trouble doing the button presses.

RE4 introduced me to the RE series, actually.
Got me hanging out for RE5, though I'd rather it on Wii than PS3.

I still think it's a shame that RE4 just wasn't that scary. Tense and creepy, but not scary.

Meh, I never really play games through unless it's like the Half-Life series.

See, I found Silent Hill to be MUCH more tense and creepy than Resident Evil. Both are easily my favorite console series, regardless.

JRPGs and SNES platformers are the only games I'll replay multiple times. I'm just more motivated with those, I guess.

Fatal Frame is supposedly the scariest series of games on the face of the Earth, but I'll believe it when I've seen it. The Resident Evil franchise HAS most certainly scared me before, but it's always more of a "BOO!" kind of scare than anything.

Resident Evil (the first one on PS1) was pretty tense at times, but never gave me that dread that I feel with Silent Hill or, most recently, with Siren. Japanese have a different style of terror where they build it up, then let it sit there and you know you cannot stop it. RE, while Japanese, focused more on Western style of horror versus Eastern, however, in RE2 you can see a good example of Japanese horror when in the police station as Leon (I can't remember if it was for Claire too) and a Licker walks across the window in the background. A lot less subtle than most Japanese horror, but still good.

^The way I see it, RE4 was more of an action game than a survival horror game. Sure, there were parts that startled you(the guy in the oven), but that's pretty much the biggest scare you'll get in that game.

I really didn't play the other RE games, so I can't speak for those.

was it the gc version?
It was.

I remember that one, and you're right--more subtle than most RE moments, but still not quite as much so as most Asian horror. And then there were those frickin' dogs... When I was 8 years old, those things just about made me wet myself when they came through the window.

Sad Panda is correct, RE4 really does seem more like an action game. It has the classic survival horror elements such as a lack of information and a seclusion in an unfamiliar space, but it never felt quite as desperate as some of the others. RE5 looks to continue the trend.

I would definitely agree that RE4 wasnt as scary as the prior games, but i liked the fact that it was more action based than actually being scary. Yeah it was kind of creepy, which was awsome.

I love the boss battles, suprisingly to me, saddler was easiest.

It seemed to me kind of like a horror movie, except with an intelligent and well-armed protagonist with enough ninja skills to not only beat hordes of variously sized super-tough enemies, but also DODGE the laser grid. Crying shame Leon wasn't in the first RE movie, he would have dominated in that scene.

And it had Krauser, one of the coolest 'doppelganger' characters in any game, right up there with Forte and Gospel, Vergil, Wolf O'Donnell, and Liquid Snake.

I ****ing love this game. I've probably run through the game 10 times. Boss fights were intense as hell. There wasn't a moment when you weren't going "holy ****, holy **** he's going to murder me".
I got the PC version first. The horrible thing was that I didn't have a gamepad at the time, so I bought one off my friend. Controls were OK, but the in-game playing manual got two buttons mixed up so I got screwed over a few times. Then I got the Wii version. I'm never going back to the PC version again. OK, fine, maybe when I play in school or something.
Mercenaries is fun as hell. I love using Wesker for his arm thrust and Hunk for the neckbreaker frenzy.
Separate Ways was also pretty awesome.

Don't get PC version, it doesn't support mouse controls, so you have to aim with the keyboard. Unless you have a gamepad, then it's not worth it.

Nah, Chicago Typewriter > Hand Cannon. Although I'll admit that getting critical headshots all the time puts a smile on my face.

Yeah I remember the first time I did that, I was like "Hell yeah! Hunk ftw!"

I heard there's a mod or something where you can use a mouse, I'm not 100% sure though.

I've only used the CT, my friend didn't have the HC unlocked but I think I saw it in a video once.

Yes it is a shame leon wasnt in the first movie, it would be so cool if he were in an actual movie. Actually there's an animated movie thats supposed to coming out oct. 18th and it features Leon and Claire. It takes place 1 year after part 4 and 3 years before part 5. Its called Resident Evil Degeneration, the trailer can be found on youtube.

Yeah, there is a mod for the mouse, but sensitivity is terrible, even after adjusting.

Wow, I just looked at the trailer on youtube. When I saw Leon, chills went down my spine at how awesome this could potentially be. But they would have to bring back the same voice actor to get that same Leon effect in RE4. I hope they do.

"Your right hand comes OFF?"

Yeah but it was pretty cool just to see leon holding the hand cannon.
No doubt.

I was quoting Leon for his joking mannerisms. Remember when Salazar was like "I've sent my right hand to dispose of you." Leon said "Your right hand comes OFF?".
I had just recalled, but i found salazar to be much more tough than saddler.

Saddler was a pushover compared to Salazar. I wasted all of my ammo trying to shoot that **** eye. Then I realized I had a rocket launcher...
