lol everyone is getting salty over this. Japan is getting it after NA because they gt the 3ds version first for obvious reasons.
And then Europe will more than likely be getting the New 3ds first, before NA.

So American were mad about japan getting first the Smash Bros. 3ds and now were the U.S. getting the Wii U version. (the definitive version to us.)

Nintendo sells the Wii U first to U.S. then to Japan.
And it will do the same for smash bros Wii U. Only few weeks.
Console sells 4x better in U.S than Japan.
America there gonna be happy getting the game first.

I call this nice strategy marketing nintendo!

I imagine that NA is getting it early to cash in on those Black Friday Sales. Whereas it makes more sence to wait until after November for the rest of the world, which is crouded with game releases already.

Sad that it's not a world wide release, but after Brawl I can't complain about a couple of weeks.

This is very welcome news! November 21st was looking pretty good for a while though. What puzzles me is that Japan is getting it later though. Doesn't this go against tradition? I don't mind it, but it seems fishy in a way. The only reason I can think of is due to Black Friday in NA, which is smart, and I applaud Nintendo for that.

Keep in mind Nintendo of Europe has to translate all game text into at least English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and Russian, while NoA only has to translate it into English and Spanish.

False, Nintendo of CANADA translate the game in french english spanish in CANADA. ( i'm from quebec )

Well, I'm surprised we're getting it before Japan to say the least. However, we only got about a bit more than a month to enjoy the 3ds version, then it's to the Wii U (which I need the system) version.
And I'm also interested that there's 18 starting Amiibos instead of the previous thought of 12 back then.

I'm pretty sure this is pretty much the single and most likely reason for the release in the NA first as it's sales would be hurt if NoA failed to get the game out in NA before Black Friday. Nintendo wants to capitalize on Smash Bros popularity to move some consoles this holiday so they probably took major pushes that the other regions simply did not to ensure this.

It makes sense - you have to ride that momentum. I would NOT be surprised if they released a Mario Kart 8 + SSB bundle for around $330 ($350 if it includes Amiibo or the GC adapter or something) with the Wii U.

It looks like most US people will have played the game to death in their first week and it'll be old hat to them by the time us PAL and Japan people get the game. I guess it is what it is. It could be worse than two weeks. What I don't get is why Japan are not getting the game first.

I wonder what the non-US people think about the two week delay. Are you all happy about this? How will you handle this delay? I'm not sure how I'll handle the two week delay personally. Probably just try to ignore all the US people bragging all over the internet during those two weeks. But thankfully that kind of thing does not happen here. (If it did I know I'd do the right thing and report it as soon as I saw it).

So you're annoyed you get to play the game almost 2 weeks before people outside NA? I agree you do have your "own selfish reason". If I was you I'd be thankful I still got to play the game before most of the rest of the world.

Who gets the new 3DS first doesn't matter here. This is about SSB for WiiU. Many of us here (myself included) do not even own a 3DS and have no want to buy a new 3DS. So saying the WiiU version delay is justified because of something 3DS, that's not a reason. That's totally unrelated.

Well if Hyrule Warriors is anything to go by, then SSB WiiU will release with bugs that need fixing. And that will happen in the initial 2 weeks before the rest of the world gets the game. That's the only consolation we get, that we're not the beta testers (of sorts) like the NA market will be for SSB WiiU.

I don't give a damn. Brawl was a three month wait, I can wait two weeks now (actually one week, because ORAS releases November 28). And the first Mario Kart DLC releases in November as well.
So many to play, so less time...

This is awesome. The game comes out on the first day of Thanksgiving break, so I pre-ordered the GCN bundle so I can have it arrive when I get home and I can play Smash with my siblings all week. Can't wait!

I always assumed that the several week delays between regions for 3DS (and now WiiU) is so they can use a test group to get a good feel for what kind of support they will need for the online servers before taking it worldwide. Something more games with online features should be doing.

And yeah, America being the lucky test group probably has a lot to do with Black Friday.

What I don't get is why Japan are not getting the game first.

This is what I don't get either. I can understand why it would be released in America before Thanksgiving (hint: it involves money). The European release date was to be expected since they always get it later, but why release it in Japan two weeks later? I had expected it to be released on the same date as the American release, if not earlier. It's unfair, I moved to Japan for a year specifically to play Smash two weeks earlier than American players and now this happens!





... ok that's not true but it's still unfair ;_;
