it said release date is 2014 so why do I have a feeling it be late 2014. If it was early 2014 would they said it like they done with mario kart 8?

I won't even begin to attempt to understand the grammarless skribbles in the OP. the release date will most likely be holiday season 2014 that would give them time to finish with it, mass produce the game and get it to stores at a time when people are buying a lot for gifts.

I'd say the game is further into development than Brawl was at it's unveiling; with live gameplay demonstration as well as trailer, that's a good sign. We won't get it early 2014, as you say, but I'm expecting foolishly hoping for Summer rather than Holiday.

At this point I think it's pretty safe to say this is the big Nintendo game for Christmas 2014. And since what I saw didn't actually convinced me 100%, I'm OK with it. Just two conditions though: the game must be ****ing incredible and updates must flow regularly, I don't want radio silence for the next three months...

I'm sure that they didn't announce a specific release date because they are very conscious of what happened with Brawl.

Agreed. I can wait as long as need be as long as they keep the information flowing.

I can handle a first quarter release but not sure if my hype can last to a holiday 2014 release

I don't think that's very safe to say at all.
The gameplay is already completely workable, playable and polished off with certain characters and stages.
What in gods name could take them a year and a half to release it now?

The Wii U is in desperate need for big titles to help with its sales. They are not going to sit on this one for very long once it's complete. Brawl was released January in Japan and March the the USA in the year after the E3 trailer. We might see something similar or a little bit later like mid year.

It will be released definitely during the holiday season of 2014. The amount of games bought if it is released in the holiday season will be rediculous.

I'm thinking a holiday release, just like Brawl. Hopefully no pushbacks this time, though.

I'd love if it would at least come out -any- time before August 26th, 2014, the day of my 25th birthday, so I wouldn't have to wait until pretty much the end of next year, but for a while now I have feared a "Holiday 2014" release date, like was originally going to happen with Brawl on December 9th, but then it got delayed. Twice. '<.<

Gonna be agonizing if this has a release date announced that gets delayed one or two times, I hope they don't make that same slip up with this 4th installment of Super Smash Bros.

I'm thinking between Summer time to Winter time in 2014. But, I am mentally preparing myself for a delay that could happen where we won't get it until 2015.

Brawl was announced with a diplomatic "coming soon" while Sm4sh with a more solid "2014". This makes me think the development is more advanced this time and so it will come faster than Brawl. Also the fact that we already got 5 new characters announced post-reveal, while with Brawl we had to wait a whole year for a new character (except Fox which I think was simply late to add in the reveal trailer) keeps my hopes up. Still I'm sure we won't get it before this summer, maybe July. I have no idea if they still want to release them both at the same time, if that's the case, seen how the 3DS version seems much behind development, I'd say Christmas. I don't think they'll want to **** up the release like with Brawl which took literally years after the announcement to come, and also got released a whopping six months later in other countries. Maybe not a worldwide release, but at least in a couple of weeks difference everyone in the world will have it, I hope.

Balls. This forum is back but it still has a couple of glitches, every time I risk to make a double post.

My guess is somewhere in between Q3 (July-September) and Q4 (October-December) of 2014.

Q2 is when Mario Kart 8 gets it's time to shine first.

The game may seem "playable" right now, but in order to balance the roster, they HAVE to make it playable. You cant just slap in some numbers in the code and deem the characters balanced.
BETA TESTING!

Fortunately for smash 4, it seems to follow brawl's engine and its mechanics, so that'll save it a good amount of time as far as development goes. Thanks to us, things like Snake sliding, infinite dimensional cape, and chain grabbing ect.. have been discovered, and we also offer them our own charts and statistics about the game from our own experience as players. It's like we gave them an awesome cheat sheet to look at while they make the game. As ive said before, we might be able to see brawl as a 5-6 year long beta test for Smash 4 . But after they give some tweaks to characters, they must ensure that those small tweaks don't snowball on the games balance. New characters such as mega man must be matched up against all the characters multiple times so that they can see what areas they need to work on.
(Its truly a shame we cant do that for them huh? lol)
With Namco Bandai on their side, I believe things will go along much faster and smoother, but making video games is an art, and we cant rush that. After they make it, they'll polish it, examine it, then polish it again, just like a master piece painting, then proudly show it to the world.

Personally id like to see the game released from mid November to early December next year, but considering how much of a head start they have this time, I can see june or july of next year a possibility.
