Custom Moves were a good idea on paper, but their execution in Sm4sh leaves…much to be desired, to put it lightly. So I made this thread for the sake of giving fighters Custom Moves that are more faithful to their canon appearance while not deviating too much from their appearance in Smash Bros. I also don’t intend to redesign every character’s Custom Moves, since not all of them really need it. With that being said, I’m going to start off with Mario.
  • Neutral
    1. Fireball
    2. Rapid Fireball (shoots two fireballs that travel faster but deal less damage)
    3. Superball (shoots a steel ball diagonally downwards; it ricochets of any surface it touches)
  • Side
    1. Cape
    2. Gust Cape (creates a gust of wind that can push opponents but can’t deal damage or reflect projectiles)
    3. Tanooki Tail (moves Mario slightly forward but can’t reflect projectiles)
  • Up
    1. Super Jump Punch
    2. Super Jump (more jump but no punch)
    3. Brotherly Jump Punch (copies Luigi’s Super Jump Punch
  • Down
    1. F.L.U.D.D.
    2. Mario Tornado (works as it did in 64 and Melee)
    3. Spin (twirls once to reflect projectiles around him)

Up next, a Pokémon similarly who had plenty of existing moves to pull from, but sorely missed out, Charizard.
  • Neutral
    1. Flamethrower
    2. Dragon Breath (breathes purple flames that briefly paralyze an opponent)
    3. Fire Blast (shoots a fire ball in the shape of 大)
  • Side
    1. Flare Blitz
    2. Flame Charge (less damage but no recoil)
    3. Blast Burn (more damage but Charizard is briefly stunned upon impact)
  • Up
    1. Fly
    2. Aerial Ace (travels further but doesn’t deal damage
    3. Sky Drop (flies up and then drops down)
  • Down
    1. Rock Smash
    2. Rock Blast (shoots a flaming rock at opponents)
    3. Fire Fang (grabs opponents and bites them)
