I originally posted about this in squirtle sub forum, but this applies to a decent amount of the cast. So yeah...

There's 4 characters in PM who can scale any vertical wall:
Shiek, Squirtle, Lucario, and Diddy

The main avenue for this is the Wall Cling. From a Wall Cling you can gain an additional double jump (even if it's been used up already.) Simply Press the Jump button while Clinging. Don't Tap away. Don't let go. Hold in and Press the Jump button. I'm going to call it a Cling Jump.

Anyways, The tricky part is getting around the "you can't cling again after clinging" window. Which is roughly 2 seconds long. Here's how to climb walls with those characters:

Shiek
Wall Cling > Cling Jump > Wall Jump (at apex of Cling Jump) > Immediately Bair/Fair & Hold towards wall > Wall Cling

Squirtle
Wall Cling > Cling Jump > Wall Jump > Hold Towards Wall > Wall Cling
You don't want to interrupt Squirtle's WJ with an aerial - He doesn't gain much height from each WJ.

Diddy
Wall Cling > Cling Jump > Wall Jump > B-Reverse Peanut Gun > Charge Cancel (press shield) > Wall Cling

Lucario
Wall Jump > B-reverse Aura Ball > Charge Cancel (press shield) > Wall Jump
Lucario's is a bit different cause you don't need to cling (despite that he can cling from his UpB.) The rhythm is pretty fast but not that bad.

Also many characters with a Wall Jump can gain height and Wall Jump again by cancelling their WJ momentum with an aerial. The most noticeable is Wolf. He can WJ 4-5 times in a row and gain height. Just do a BAir immediately after Wall Jumping and Hold towards the wall.

Approximate Number of Wall Jumps in a row (on the same Wall) that can GAIN height.
Wolf: 4
Mario: 3
Falco: 3
TLink: 2
ZSS: 1
The WJ-ing characters who're **** out of luck: Fox, Falcon, Sonic, and Pikachu.

Also, Good stages to practice this stuff on:
Saffron City, Shadow Moses Isle

So yeah, I think this is pretty cool. You can use this is more ways than just to recovery. You could use it to stall for awhile. Or you could use it for some pretty interesting edgeguards. Lots of possibilities with Wall Jumping, Wall Clinging, and B-Reversals. =)

I noticed this phenomenon with Squirtle when looking for ways to chase opponents deep for a bubble gimp, that's awesome that it works for these other characters as well.

Seems cool. Not gamebreaking. Does the amount of time you spend wall clinging matter?

You can also follow lucario's instructions to perform sheik's wall climb.

Does the availability to cling again start only after the cling is done or is it already going through the time until you can cling again period while you are still clinging?

@ Eli yeah I can make that video
Might have some time tomorrow.

@Mad
The time starts once you stop clinging.

@Rat I just messed with Diddy kong and I think you overlooked his Side-B you can cling jump -> wall jump -> Side -B to wall cling. The B reverse peanut cancel definitely gets more street cred though.

Nvm, I forgot that you get one side B per airtime. I guess it applies for one extra cling.

Sorry for multiple edits but I confirmed that it also works with B reversed banana plucks.

cool, I'll try the banana plucks. -1 input is a good thing.

Didn't know about the sideB. I was trying it in 2.5 so maybe it's a bit shorter animation now. Thanks for pointing this stuff out. :)
