Recovery Defensive Technique?

I was playing around with snake today, and I noticed that if you use cypher while getting back, you can shoot a nikita once you're over the stage, immediately cancel it, and it should fall at about the same rate as you. This will give you some breathing room from edge guarders (though if you're already over the stage you probably don't need much to get back on >_>). Anyway, it's a bit better than trying to drop a C4 for two reasons: to drop a C4, you can't have any planted across the stage, and C4's can hurt you too. Same for grenades. Anyway, just an idea.

That's a really cool idea. I want to try this sometime on my friend's wii. If I can remember, if I do the Nikita into the air, I usually get pushed forward for using the Nikita. I guess I am pressing the analog a little too much when using it.

I don't quite remember whether using nikita in the air caused me to move, but I did want to add a few things. This obviously can't be used too liberally, because nikita takes a while to actually fire, and you're very vulnerable while firing. The best case scenario for this would probably be against someone who has just as bad an aerial game as Snake, or someone who waits on the ground a lot. Also, you could do it when you're really high in the air, so it's not as clear to the opponent exactly what you're doing. If it's a dark background, it can be hard to see the nikita. So when your opponent comes to attack you, they'll be treated to a nice little surprise :]. However, I don't know whether the nikita automatically explodes after being canceled when it's still in the air. I'll have to test this later...
Also, I think it's important to use it while you're still hanging onto cypher, so the upward momentum helps you stay in the air long enough to shoot + cancel. If you do so otherwise, the nikita tends fall a bit behind you. I only remember being able to effectively do this once, but it was really helpful the one time it actually worked.

It seems pretty good actually. If someone won't let you land and keep hitting you off, it would seem like a good idea to just keep cyphering up really high and just let a nikita drop. Great find, ill be using this.

Whenever I did this it was by accident lol. I hate feeling vulnerable like that in the air so I sort of stray from this. C4 is just fine by me.

The C4 approach is probably faster and leaves less space for the opponent to abuse you, but it's also not as safe as the nikita drop approach. If you're hit-stunned, you can't detonate. However, if the opponent gets too close, nikita automatically blows up, harming the opponent but not yourself. Of course if you become predictable with this, you'll get easily punished.

@ Gambit: This is really just for people who don't know about it; I'm sure many people have already found this trick. I'm not trying to take credit for the discovery of this or anything. Though the only reason I posted this was because I didn't see anyone use this on any of the videos I've watched on youtube. However, the only people I've really watched are psycho and champ.
