Reasons for Jigglypuff beliefs

Why is everyone so sure that Jigglypuff will be in Brawl? Jigglypuff got in before because of the show. In the show Jigglypuff was the lovable character that kept coming, and singing then wrote on people's faces when they fell asleep. She has not had any popularity since. The cast is going to be decided as far as pokemon goes by who people now days like. Such as Lucario, Blaziken, etc etc. All, I'm saying is chances are Jigglypuff will get the boot.

Jigglypuff got in before because she was one of the most popular pokemon in Japan at that time. That's why we all fear Munchlax now. Her inclusion had little to do with the show, IIRC.

Jigglypuff is a cool, unique fighter, and was in both SSB and SSBM, as I'm sure you know. If that's all we've got to go on right now, it doesn't seem unreasonable she'll be back.

Um. Because Jigglypuff IS popular? See, there was this one video game series called "Smash Brothers" in which Jigglypuff was a character in the first two, thus earning her fame for years to come.
At this point, even if she is no longer a global favorite for pokemon, she is one of the Smash pokemon, and people want her to return. She had a very unique moveset and many people enjoyed using her or killing her.

There are more popular characters now than Jigglypuff. I had no knowledge of Jigglypuff being popular in japan. But I do know of Muchlax being popular for whatever reason. So, I still think Jigglypuff's inclusion rate is decreasing more and more as now the target audience is young, and probably doesn't even know about Jigglypuff. How do I know it's going to be off of popularity you ask? Because popularity=more sells and more sells= more $$$ and more $$$ is what Nintendo is all about. Smash veterans might want her to return, but what about all the little kids who bought Wiis. Who do they want to see? New pokemon from the 4th/3rd generation. Because that's what is popular now among those young children. I'm not saying it's impossible for her to come back, just a lot less likely than people seem to believe.

I think you have a point -- but only to a degree. Smash Brothers Melee was the #1 selling game for the Gamecube, if I recall. It certainly doesn't need any help making money.

For one, just because she isn't as popular now doesn't mean people have gone and forgotten her. She's still known by many fans, or really anyone who grew up during the Pokemon craze, whether they were fans or not. She has to be in at least the top 4 most popular Pokemon around the world, so of course she'd be repped. On top of that, she was in the first two, and there would be many angry Jigglypuff mains/lovers in the smash world alone that would also be mad if she were removed.

No, it doesn't, but do you really think Nintendo cares? Sure it is going to make a ***** load of money on it's own, but adding characters more popular now is going to bring in more. I mean they added Snake, now look at it this way. All the people who spent $600 on a PS3 are now going to spend money to buy a Wii and Brawl just to play as Snake because they are that obsessed.

What makes you think that everyone who bought a PS3 likes MGS?

And btw, I know people who have PS3s that have no intentions of buying a Wii. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Also, Snake and PS3 have absolutely nothing to do with Jigglypuff.

Jigglypuff has a good chance of returning simply for the fact that it was in Melee and SSB64. Any character that was in a previous Smash Bros.(yes, even Pichu) is automatically more likely to be in Brawl then any character that wasn't.

While I don't know what kind of chance Purin has of returning, I'm personally not fond of her. It's the kind of character that makes me say "Why?". I mean, sure the show gave her much popularity (which would coincide/boost the already existant videogame popularity), this has died down. I rather give some of her aerial game to Kirby (Note; Not all of it, as not to make him broken or overpowered). This would upset seasonal Purin smashers, but at least they'll have a bunch of new aerialist to look forward to. xP

Jiggs is only really popular to select smashers nowadays. No pokemon player likes Jigglypuff much anymore, and neither do most people who watch the cartoon.

A few smashers don't like Jigglypuff, which kind of negates her only real positive. The only other thing she has going is being in the first game.

If sakurai has time for clones, he'll add Jiggs back in, but only because it's just as easy to "clone" a melee character into brawl (like Bowser, and his longer reach), as it is to make a new clone of another character.

A box set of ten DVDs featuring Pikachu was released, and to decide on which Pokemon to base the next box set, they held a poll, featuring MANY popular Pokemon, and Jigglypuff won. The puff is still very popular. Besides, she's one of the original 12.

If Jigglypuff doesn't return, I'll eat my hat. She HAS to be the unlockable for beating Classic once.

Jigglypuff is still my favourite pokemon. I don't even know who half of these other new pokemon like Lucario are. The only not-first/second generation pokemon I like is Gardevoir, and that's only because I'm a freak and think she's hot. >.>

Well Sakurai has an odd sense of humor, you can see it in things such as the sleep attack, exploding crates, and the fact Marth still speaks Japanese.

I look at her as a joke character. I don't care for her that much as a character, but she does have quite a bit of fame, so I wouldn't mind her making a reappearence due to her popularity.

I agree. I think the original 12 will probably be in every smash game. Jigglypuf's popularity has gone down a bit,but she's still popular enough to return. As far as Pokemon go,I think the Rep's will be(or hope,rather) Pikachu,Jigglypuff,Mewtwo, and Lucario(Blaziken and Munchlax be ****ed,even though they have fairly good chances)

OK, I found them on eBay, I also got it wrong, it's not a boxset of 10 DVDs, they're releasing 10 individual DVDs, of the 10 most popular Pokemon to celebrate 10 years of Pokemon. They first did Pikachu and Jigglypuff won the polls over the bunch of other popular Pokemon to get Vol. 2. Yay for Jigglypuff!

As much as I would like to see Jigglypuff go away, chances are she's not. The original 12 are pretty much guaranteed to return IMHO. I'll admit she did have some potential as a character, I just hated her because after a while two things began to wear on my already raw nerves...

1: Her voice pretty much equates to the voice of the devil to me now, even hell cowers before Jiggs...

2: Whenever I've seen her used the person using her almost ALWAYS spams her rollout, OVER AND OVER until I want to break things. (I'm not a tourney player obviously lol)

But yeah, I think we're stuck with Jiggs, at least for now.

There were rumors that Sakurai originally wanted Pit instead of Jiggly, then pushed for Pit again but kept Jiggly because she was still popular and already in the first game or something like that...
So now that Pit's in, maybe she's out?

I personally would like the Puff to leave in order to make place for more interesting Pokemon. I don't have anything personal against her, though, besides the fact that her Melee self had all the strengths that should've belonged to Kirby instead. I won't go and spoil the fun of those who like her.

This topic is stupid. Nintendo is not going to replcace 2 characters from the same serires because you all know Pichu would go b4 Jiggly. Jiggly was from the first game and that will boost her chances of making it to the next game. A lot of people like her both in Japan and US, he was in the first game, he will always go b4 Pichu and even Mewtwo, and he will always be that first character to unlock after beating 1P mode. Also just recently his chances went up because ******* deoxys has been discomfirmed. Seriously tho Jiggs > Legendary Pokemon

I do think Jigglypuff will return but i dont think they will confirm her until after the release of Brawl simply because Sakarai has stated that he wont confirm characters that you have to unlock besides snake after the game is released. I think this because she has always been a secret character and easiest/first character you unlock and i think they will keep this tradition.

i agree with oystermeister as well. she was in both games so that alone makes me think she wil be in this one. she is still known. she might not be as popular as she was abck then but people will still recognize her. i mean by the logic some of you are going by they might as well get rid of Mewtwo also. which would be ridculous. we all no Pichu is gone if Mewtwo aint going anywhere Jigglypuff wont either. and i think i heard that all the original 12 would be returning.
