Really, how smart is Sakurai?

Okay people, in this thread we question Sakurai's intelligence and abilities as a game designer. You guys need to point out stuff that Sakurai is doing that doesn't seem so bright.

You can also joke about some things, this thread is not for bashing purposes, it's just for fun.

Seriously, how really smart is Sakurai?

Why does he gives all the ''reflector'' type of special moves to the characters that can spam projectiles? Wouldn't these moves be much more useful to someone that can't shoot stuff?

Um. Why are you even thinking about this. Sakurai is awesome, end of story. Why? The game is pretty, so it must be true.

I don't think all of this has to do with his intelligence, a whole team is making the game, not just him. There are several even small things I like about brawl (such as keeping the Melee music, I hated the way games quit on their old music).

As for dumb things, I really can't think of any particular one other then the delay.

I am neutral about it, it is dumb in that it won't sale during christmas, and now everyone is getting X-boxes for Halo3 instead of Wiis to get Brawl. It won't really hurt Brawl's sales in the long run but it will hurt the Wiis sales. However, it will help Mario Galaxy and the Olympics.

Anyways you need to think harder than that... marketing has nothing to do with THE GAME itself and Sakurai's abilities as a game designer!

Seriously, how really smart is Sakurai?

- Why did he even put ladders in the game? Who would put themselves in a vulrenable position when most characters can easily cover vertical distance twice as fast with their jumps + upB? Also will Snake be able to climb them?

If I were to pick out one thing though that might seem dumb, or at least something that I wouldn't really care about if it was in the game or not, would have to Stickers.
When I first saw them I was like "Who really cares about collecting stickers" and "Trophies all the way!"
So out of all the things so far I dislike Stickers the most I suppose

Ok, I honestly like many of the things he has done with the game and I am suprised with some of the updates (never thought there would be a level editor or online play). So, personally hard to find faults with the game. I guess one very minor one is that some of the subspace enemies look childish or dumb. The Ancient Minister doesn't look to threatening.

I do got question Sakurai's intelligence when I see that Bowser moves without any propulsion. Has Sakurai even heard of physics? Bowser moves like a lawn mower which makes no sense. The last time I saw a turtle dragonsaur, he moved with his legs, not through witchcraft. <_<

This what relating to the post about the weight variance of characters and their effect in melee, which is not proportional at all. Quite the opposite.

The quotes that he puts underneath the pictures are usually captions. I'm sure you've heard of them. It's not like he's talking like that for his health. Most of the time the quotes have something to do with the picture or they're meant to sound like one of the characters in the picture is saying it.

The only thing that makes me doubt Sakurai's intelligence is that he hasn't updated C Falcon on the Dojo. Why? Because when C Falcon jumps into a pool he doesn't get wet, the water gets Captain Falconed.

Not to smart considering some of the updates he give us. For example, look at today's update. Instead of giving us this he could've introduced something new or atleast gave us a 2-in-1 update. What he did today was like making an update on alternate costumes.

Other than that though, he has created a truly amazing game series even if he doesn't take into consideration the higher level of play.
