Images are broken, yet I can see them while I'm responding to this post.

Odd.

Anyway, you're drawings are still has great as ever, and I really like your ideas here. I really love the idea of Rayman being primarily a fighter with melee attacks, but his lack of limbs give him more range. It could lead to a very unique and fun playstyle.
Yea, I just heard from Tortilla Noggin that the site has that problem from time to time and they'll correct themselves eventually.

Thanks for the feedback too! I feel like I'm improving digitally and I love the concept of Rayman being a fighter thanks to Origins. He's been an energetic brawler ever since the recent games and I can definitely picture him as this wild fighter with power and range but at the same time really fragile cuz he has less bodyparts and thus less weight.

Rayman may not have as many super unique abilities as a lot of Smash 4's newcomers do, but I think his potential to be super fun more than makes up for it.

So I recently discovered some news regarding a post Michel Ancel made on his Instagram account:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BaI0eAwAEPb/?taken-by=michelancel

It is "hinting" of a possible Rayman 4. Only time will tell if this actually becomes a reality, hopefully in 3D and related to the original trilogy, putting the Origins/Legends era to finally rest in a way, or is will be RL 3D, which I pray it isn't.

This put a big smile on my face when I read it earlier today.

Unfortunately, considering how long it's taking for WiLD and Beyond Good and Evil 2 to come out, we probably won't be hearing from Rayman for a while, at least a game developed by him.

Still, the fact that Rayman is still on his mind makes me very happy.

:) Yeah, that's a good point, specially when Ancel had his phase where he nearly "murdered" Rayman in a way with the Rabbid's invasion, glad to see him back into showing apreciation to his most beloved creation. And well, like it is said "Better late than never", just like how Metroid got Prime 4 after eons too.

While I'd like to be excited for Rayman 4 finally happening, I already know it will take a long time for it to be developed.

Hopefully it will be worth the wait.

After playing through Super Mario Odyssey, I really, really want to see big 3D platformers make a comeback.
Rayman deserves another 3D platformer in the vein of 2 and 3, but I do wonder how much money Ubisoft would throw at making one.
To me, though, 3D platformers are absolutely welcome and Odyssey proves that they are more than just a nostalgia trip back in time.
I just hope it isn't a one time thing and have to wait 5-7 years for another high profile 3D platformer to come by. DK and Rayman would be perfect candidates.

I think 3D platformers are most certainly making a comeback.

Even if Yooka-Laylee failed to impress people (barring some already hardcore fans of games like Banjo-Kazooie), A Hat in Time certainly did, as did Mario Odyssey.

It may take some more convincing to the industry that 3D platformers are something people want, but I think it will happen eventually.

If Rayman or Donkey Kong are next in line for a return to 3D, I would most certainly welcome it.

I support. I think Rayman is the first character I actively and genuinely wanted to see in Smash, and I was disappointed when he was only a trophy. I may not want him as much as I did before, but he's still one of my most wanted 3rd parties.

Ehh, I feel as though 3D platformers didn't die out but instead shifted in tone.

When it comes to the cartoony, family-friendly games like Banjo we've definitely seen a drought of those types, but some of the most popular and/or high profile games last gen had heavy platforming in them, and not just the Mario Galaxies or 3D Land/World titles. A lot of people don't seem to view them as such, but the Uncharted series has huge amounts of it; Drake (and now Chloe) have to navigate just as many obstacle courses as they have to deal with gunfights, and all 3 InFAMOUS games blend shooter elements with platforming and the superhero subgenre. It's not too surprising that those franchises were big on it either, since Naughty Dog has been making platformers since 1996 and Sucker Punch's last big series was Sly Cooper, which blended platforming with stealth.

That brings me to my next point: most platformers nowadays are shooter-oriented. You got the obvious stuff like Ratchet & Clank which is like 50% Platformer and 50% Shooter, but that type of thing also applies to the other 2 as well. The platforming genre seems to have just shifted to a more shooter-based, action oriented experience, but we are definitely seeing more cartoony games pop back up, like that Super Lucky's Take thing for XB1 (IDK if it's good, so disclaimer), A Hat in Time, Yooka-Laylee, Odyssey and Ratchet & Clank 2016. Personally I'm fine with both types--whether they're the "Modern" 3D Platformer that's an action-packed hybrid or the "Classic" type that reminds us of the N64 days.

Hm, that's actually an interesting point.

While I wouldn't classify the likes of Uncharted as platformers myself, just games with platforming elements, what you said did make me look at it from a different perspective.

I guess it would be more accurate to say I think the Mascot 3D Platformer is making a comeback. Which is something I sorely miss.

Yea, I miss them too. Seeing my childhood heroes shrivel up and disappear really sucked. I'm happy that Rayman, the Kongs and Ratchet are still out and about but there's definitely room for more. :/

Didn't think I'd be back here so soon.

Here's to hoping that we have a better result this time.

I haven't been satisfied with Smash Brothers since Artsy Omni's Rayman leak. I have never had my hopes raised to such heavenly heights only to be dashed so thoroughly.

I need Rayman in Smash. I NEED him. Before I was the Duke of Dorks, before I was Kalimdori, before I was Cloverfield, before whatever other weird username I've used in the past! I wanted Rayman in Melee! IN MELEE!!!

Please Sakurai. Between the trophy and the leak, I don't think my heart can handle another round of Smash speculation :p

Welcome back, everyone! This is our chance I think. Ubi and Nintendo are on the best circumstances they've ever been on methinks. Just watch out for them Rabbids. :p

I think Rayman has a pretty good chance of making it and I don't think it'll be too hard to come up with a good moveset for him. He has his two staple moves which are his fist and helicopter hair as well as the chargeable projectile from 2, the various powerups from 3 and even that funny face he pulls which could be used as a stun move.

Rayman and Crash must be in Smash. Rayman has shown heavily close ties with Nintendo ever since Rayman Raving Rabbids was one of the very first Wii games announced for that system in 2006. Coincidentally, Rayman Advance also came out in the exact same year the GameBoy Advance came out (2001).

And now that Rayman was a trophy in the previous Smash installment, he is officially a part of the franchise in any case, boosting the favors even more.

The newcomer trailer should trick the viewers that at first a Rabbid will be a newcomer, but then Rayman jumps in out of nowhere and stomps/kicks the Rabbid out and instead he will be the newcomer.

YES. Yes. And yes.
He should've been in Smash already. Him and Lana would be my insta-mains in either happens.
And he might be THE most likely 3rd party now if I think about it, so fingers crossed :D

Of all the western 3rd party devs, Ubisoft is the one that most consistently remembers that Nintendo exists so I think it's not a stretch to say Rayman could be in Smash Switch.

Rabbids may have come back from the dead with Kingdom Battle but I think Rayman himself is more likley as the Rep as he's a better fit for 2D battling with the Rabbids as the assist trophy.

Rayman's chances are a little better now than they were back in the DLC era thanks to the stronger support Ubisoft is giving the Switch.
Rayman's got a lot of third parties to compete with and this time, he doesn't have a trophy to call his own. Everyone is at square one.
Hopefully, Sakurai sees the demand for Rayman from the Ballot and makes a unique moveset out of him. And if he isn't in the base game? There's always DLC. :)

Do chalk me in, been really in love with Rayman's incredible platforming adventures as of last years. I feel bit like the more stronger ties between Ubisoft and Nintendo might be a slight boon lately.

Nice to hear that, Rayman Legends is an incredible game, and the addition (majority) of the levels from Origins was a good thing to expand the game, I love the music levels, and in general the whole game; amazing platforming, design and music!

Welcome back, and wow, amazing animation! Really, nice job, it would be great if his presentation was something like that with the logo in his body.

That would be cool, although I would prefer his respawn R2 animation:

But that's a personal opinion since I love Rayman 2. I can see them going with the Rayman Origins/Legends animation since it is more recent.
