I refuse to allow my hopes to get up, he probably doesn't know the roster, he doesn't work directly with Sakurai.
But then he just offhandedly mentions Rayman as he's talking about how there's more to the roster. Hnnnnnnnnnn-

From a marketing standpoint, as I've gone into detail before,

Rayman would have had to be in, or the trophy reveal was a ridiculously silly move on Sakurai's part.
And though others disagree, I've not seen him make a silly choice yet. Not til I see the full roster, anyway.

When he says "Rayman", it's like he intended to say more and then went "Oh sh**" in his head and tried to cover it quickly by saying "and more". But the mistake was made.

If he just made a mistake as thinking about Pac Man or Megaman, then really, how ? He saw Megaman and just said Pac-Man. We will see anyway.

Seems to me that he was just talking about other 3rd party characters that are in the game, playable or not. Or who knows? Maybe every Nintendo worker has given some secret and awesome information on the new Smash but they have to close their lips at any costs or their job is as good as gone. That must be stressing.

Micheal Ancel's response in an interview - When asked whether Rayman could kick Mario's @$$, Ancel responded with "um, maybe we'll have the answer very soon. (laughs)" Suspicious much?

Nintendo employee slips up? - Someone at Nintendo of Canada offhandedly mentions Rayman as he speaks about "other unrevealed characters," specifically third parties.

OP to be updated with more in-depth information and links provided. Could this be Sakurai's trolliest move since Ridley?

No. The best course of action was exactly what he did, not to continue talking about it and smoothly alter his train of speech.

If he had gone "oh **** I wasn't supposed to say that," then it wit would be blatantly obvious that Rayman is playable.

And he would get fired.

He's the guy who's in charge of Marketing, Communications and PARTNERSHIPS.
So saying things like "he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about" are BS.
I shall retreat into my Rayman fancave now untill more news pops up.

Honestly I think it was speech error and rayman has already broken character reveal patterns which are Sakurai never says a non-revealed playable character by name until they are revealed (he would tease cryptically) and playable characters don't have their own trophies (at least not of their playable models) unless of course Sakurai decided to add him last second which isn't impossible

Though I supposed that would be the best way to keep a character secret until reveal

I feel it's possible he just misspoke while trying to say Megaman. The audio sounds super weird when he says Rayman, so something's not quite right.

I'm guessing the one with rayman's eyes wide open is an older model.(I think it looks far better) Unless that trophy is final smash or something(probably not).
But that slip of the tounge from the canada guy makes rayman look more likely

Exactly what I was thinking. I can't help but feel the guys around him were trying to help him out by biting their tongues and not going "Whoa, wait, Rayman!?" Of course, it's possible they just missed it and I'm grasping at straws.

That being said; I'm throwing in my support for Rayman. Rayman 2 was one of my favorite games when I was growing up on the greatest gaming machine ever, the Nintendo 64. He's without a doubt my most wanted third party newcomer.

I thought that was a smash run stage for donkey kong country returns? looking at the jungle part,of the smashrun stage, it does not look that much like a rayman stage. But still an interesting find.

Is crazy. This is apparently a big-wig, involved in partnerships. Mega-Man is in the demo, he was talking about non-demo characters, I doubt he slipped to mention him.
This doesn't mean Rayman is on-disc, at this late stage in development, they are probably already figuring out DLC. But it is great news none the less.

If it was uploaded post-recording, there's no way that was an actual leak, because the guy would have realized what he had mistakenly said immediately and made sure the footage never went public. But if he simply misspoke, or didn't mean that Rayman was going to be playable, it's more plausible that he never really noticed he'd even said it at all, or just didn't think anything of it.

It wasn't a live event, it was a video filmed by a game channel who were invited to play.

Honestly, the implications of picture of the day quite blatantly insinuate that Rayman is not playable; however, this is certainly an odd turn of events. Could it be a slip of the tongue? Perhaps, but usually I correct myself if mess up a word. I might be alone in this sentiment, the quote did put him on my radar though.

I am not entirely sold. But I am currently open to the possibility.
