The original love interest of Mario, then named Jumpman, in the original Donkey Kong arcade game. She made very, very few appearances after this, only appearing regularly in the "Mario VS Donkey Kong" series. Overall she is not a very recurring character, nor is she truly important to the Mario franchise. Sure, she is notable for being Mario's first love interest in the first game he ever appeared in, but isn't really an important character. She has practically no potential either, not to mention there are several, far better choices for a Mario newcomer. (Toad, Bowser Jr. Paper Mario, Waluigi and even Rosalina)

I feel Paper Mario actually has a decent shot at this point, but not a great shot either. The Paper Mario series is one of the bigger and more popular franchises in the extended Mario series (that isn't a spin-off that revovles around playing a huge variety of mini-games, racing, playing sports etc) and, is the most unique franchise in the extended Mario series, at least in my opinion. Paper Mario himself has huge potential as well.

Want: 10% - So he can change characters, turn flat, and use weapons from the RPGs among other things, eh? It sounds good on paper, but really he's just...well another Mario...and one is good enough. He might go the Toon Link route and be a Mario clone with paper fire balls, a paper fludd, a paper cape, and paper coins when he does his shoryuken super jump. I'm not saying he couldn't have unique potential, but Sakurai is not above cutting corners - especially when time is short.

Dark Samus Prediction: 21.3% - Second most demanded Metroid newcomer after Ridley, so her score might be reasonably high.

Honestly though most sonic themes relate more to... ya know.. sonic. There's not a huge amount of music for all that many side characters in franchises unless they get a significant spin off, and I wouldn't call chaotix significant.

I'm surprised Ray hasn't got more, being from his own franchise and all, but I've not played the games so I can't suggest any good tracks for him I'm afraid.


I may vote some Banjo-Kazooie eventually just so we get a good music section . But there are some cool Klonoa tracks, and Zero will bring a shed tonne of cool tracks when his day comes around, so we're not quite dead on the music front yet... just on life support.

As for the 2. the cape; am I the only one who figured if he was going to be a clone, he'd merely deflect the attacks with his own flat body?

It COULD happen guys. I'm not sure why people talk in such definites when suggesting there's no way two characters could be clones this time round.
Especially as any of the Mario potential newcomers could easily end up as clones or semi clones. Yes, even Toad:

• Toad could end up as a cross clone of Luigi AND Peach for all I know(Using a few of the following: Peach's B IS Toad, her Down + B, Luigi's fireball(Iceball), his side + B(Golden Mushroom), and potential jump(Power Squat Jump)).
• Bowser Jr, whilst unlikely could end up as two clones in one if Shadow Mario is brought in as a transformation.
• Paper Mario COULD be a Mario clone as discussed.

Just keep it in mind, it's not out of the question. The worst scenario for any of the above, yes, but not super unlikely either.

I could see her getting in as a WTF/Retro character, actually. She's pretty well known for a "Retro" character and seems to be a decent oddball choice. However, I refuse to put much stake in her... she's one of my "deep sleeper" picks, as it were.

That said, I really don't like the way they've revived the character and I'd be furious... outraged... SICK WITH ANGER if she made it in. Possibly my most disliked character up to the plate so far.

Paper Mario Chance: 30%
I stand by my primary complaint from last time: if they were to add a Mario newcomer, it would be someone from the core Mario games that appears in the sports spin-offgames; the main point of the new Mario character would be to add a star, and there are many brighter ones in the greater franchise than Paper Mario. His games are among the less popular of the spinoffs; someone like Waluigi or Jr. is far more recognizable.

Even so, two things have helped me up his score considerably since last time. The first is the major hit that Toad took to his chances...that leaves more room for other Mario characters, of which Paper Mario is a possibility. Secondly is my reevaluation of the character himself; he's so darn easy to make that he could easily be chosen as fluff. I mean, Toad is one of the easiest possible newcomers to program, and Paper Mario's 2D frame makes even the fungus dude look like a technical nightmare. They could probably make a dozen Paper Marios in the time it take to program Waluigi's lanky legs or Ridley's awkward frame! All in all, this and Peach's reveal have boosted him about twenty percent in my eyes.

Unfortunately, this time has soured his appeal in my eyes. I mean, he's Mario! Big deal! So what if he uses different moves... he's still a boring choice from a series that has the likes of Toad, Bowser Jr., and Waluigi to offer! He was one of my most wanted pre-Brawl and is one of the first three characters I ever made a moveset for (the other two being K. Rool and Little Mac), but he just isn't on my agenda anymore. Wanna represent the RPG's? Give me the RAAAAAAAWK or some Mustard of Doom instead.

Being a clone could benefit her as she wouldn't take much time, but Dark Samus isn't demanded as a second Metroid rep (or third if you count Zero Suit Samus as a second rep).
