I'll give it an 8.

The art style has been growing on me, so I can dig it as much as Brawl, and I know a fair few Wii games that don't look as impressive as Smash 3DS.

Above average.

In technical terms, it isn't as good as Resident Evil: Revelations, but it is impressive considering the frame rate it's running on. It does look good visually, however, and it looks somewhat better than Brawl due to the art style, and that's subjective.

I honestly found the graphics to be entirely average; they aren't as aesthetically coherent as some other games, and the models need bold outlines. They aren't horrible, but you can only do so much.

I would be interested in hearing about even one Wii game that doesn't look as impressive as Smash. Just one. I am genuinely asking; I am not attempting to be pretentious, I am merely curious.

And maybe a more fitting comparison would be:

I don't think Smash Bros 3DS looks more impressive than the other Wii Sonic games, but it certainly looks better than Sonic Unwiished.

I want to put a little disclaimer here, but the terms visuals and graphics tend to be confused a lot.

When something looks better than the other, that's entirely subjective since not everyone shares the same opinion of one game looking better than the other. If we're talking about graphics, we can only objectively compare games in a technical manner and how they're used well.

In other words, which is graphically better? Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario 3D World? Obviously, 3D World is better graphically because it features more geometry, higher resolution textures, and so on. But in my opinion, Galaxy looks much better because of the art style that gives levels a "spacey" feel.

In this case, I don't agree with the poll so far that Smash 3DS is as good as Wii graphics. There's still a misconception that the 3DS is as powerful as the GameCube, and that's certainly not true. Brawl is still leagues ahead of the 3DS version, and games like Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption are still better. However, I do think that the 3DS version visually looks better than Brawl since I'm not a fan of Brawl's washed out colours.

I'd just like to say that in my case, when I said "it looks better than some Wii games", I was not putting down the Wii. Some third party Wii games just didn't have a lot of graphical polish, especially if they were a Wii version of a HD game. I think the 3DS version of Smash looks a lot better than games of that ilk, though, even from a technical aspect.

Obviously, first party games, including Brawl, are far better technically, but the art style on the 3DS Smash is so well implemented, it can legitimately completely mask the lower polygon count at times, like so:

She looks way smoother to me here than she did in Brawl, even though she likely does not use as many polyons or have as high quality textures as in Brawl. ESPECIALLY in the face.

And the poofy sleeve thing. And the earrings.

And the space/stars behind her look beautiful.

I think stages in brawl looked better but I would like to see some more 3DS stages to be sure. For the models of characters, I like them better than brawl. I was not a fan on the darker and more realistic looking models. That and both Wii U and 3DS models sort of remind me of melee but I'm not sure why.

Requesting an 8.5 option.

Certainly better than Wii graphics but it's not THAT close to Wii U graphics. Put 9 instead. Lol'd at #1.

Amen to this. Pretty much why I put 9. I like the outlining and etc. Would prefer this over Wii U but fabulous HD quality holds me back. :<

LIKE JUST LOOK AT THIS IT LOOKS SO FABULOUS.

Definitely better than 95% of Wii games though. Just my opinion don't hurt me pls.

Not technically superior than Wii graphics, but the art style and well used colors make it much more appealing.

ok, fine, you win this time.

That's still the thing, though. The usage of such things pretty much outclassed the Wii in some cases. I'm not saying ALL Wii games are worse than 3DS, though. I still found a lot of things better than the 3DS.

I love the graphics of the game, but what I love most about the look is comic book art style. I just need a BAM and KAPOW everytime I land a hit :p

Lying about my country.
Can't help but to be bothered by the poll options, on average, 3DS games look just as good as Wii games, if not better thanks to having superior shaders.

I gave it an 8

I think it's very close to the Wii, if not in pure gruntpower......at least in style and presentation.

If there's one thing the 3ds gets right graphically is it's shaders. The high contrast lighting and shadows fits the art style of the game, imo.

The visuals between versions are practically the same. Of course, graphically the Wii U version looks better, but there is only so much the 3DS can handle, and besides, I think they look fine. Equivalent to Wii graphics if anything.

I give it an 8.

Despite what the majority says, SSB3DS's graphics are actually really good. Really what they're doing is comparing it to the Wii U, which makes it seem bad. I really don't have a problem with the visuals at all.

7/10, would order again.

Worse than Wii in a lot of ways but the much lower pixel density makes the low-res crisper. However, some bad edges that Brawl didn't have.

Of what the 3DS can accomplish the graphics are excellent, then, I don't care that much of the graphics, as long it is a great and fun game, graphics don't matter.

They look outstanding for me, like, really. Look at those pics: they have so many details despite we won't be able to see them in all their glory because of a smaller screen.

A well deserved 8/10

Generally when all you have to go on when judging a game's graphics is trailers and pictures on the internet, the blown up images always make the game look more pixellated than it actually is, at least in the 3DS' case. You can't really properly judge a game's graphics/visuals until you see them for yourself. I personally think that Smash 3DS looks fantastic despite this. I prefer it to Melee's visuals and even Brawl's, mostly because of the more vibrant color palette. Also I'm glad they stopped making Mario's overalls look like actual denim. I don't like hyper-realistic Mario.

I wanna vote 8, because I really enjoy looking at this game, but being realistic it's not Wii's graphics. It's close and looks good due to art direction, but c'mon, Brawl pushed more polygons, better textures and it had amazing. special effects. I love the way R.O.B.'s sparks look and Samus' flame from her beam cannon looks, too, among others.

Smash 4 in general has every move and its effect pronounced and dramatically improved, so visually it wins here regardless, imo. It's vivid and mmm. I voted 7 anyhow.

7/10 for me :\

Though it might not be on par with the wii-u graphics, Just the thought of the characters "popping" out of the screen in 60 fps somewhat amazes me

Is the pixelation on the 3ds XL as bad as some people say it is? Like does it really affect gameplay that much?

It's what turned me off of getting an XL at first, but it's not too bad.

also i doubt it would.
