Hello all.

I am just now starting Pokemon Platinum (since I lost my Pearl version :(), and as usual I always plan out which Pokemon team I will use throughout the game. How will my new team stack up against my old team of Pokes? (Remember this is non-competitive, just for the game)

Pearl Team (old team)
Empoleon
Staraptor
Bronzong
Roserade
Luxray
Palkia

Platinum Team (IT IS DECIDED!)
Torterra
Staraptor (Staraptor is a must for every team lol)
Gengar
Probopass
Gyarados
Giratina

THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS EVERYONE! I GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION!

I don't think the correction deserves a ban tbh. It's pretty true.

I'd say your team looks good. I'd replace Golem with something non ground since Torterra kind of covers that already..

Now that's funny. I did the opposite.

Torterra in Pearl and Empoleon in Platinum. (I also had an Infernape in Diamond)

Truthfully I regret it because I still like Torterra the best out of the 3.

Thanks for the ideas everyone.

You do have a point with Golem, and I was thinking about that. Who do you think would make a better replacement? Anyone else have an idea?

I would say Glaceon but Ice is covered with Gyarados..

have you thought about a psychic type? Like one of the lake trios? They're pretty good if you've got the right moves.

I'm not entirely sure, but you can get a Nosepass with the Sinnoh Dex in Platinum, right? I don't know exactly, though...I don't have Platinum. :\ Anyway, you could try to get one of them and evolve it to Probopass. It's not too powerful attacking-wise, but it's got beastly defenses, to say the least. Plus it covers your rock type of Golem and adds the steel, which you don't have yet. Only real problem I can think of is that they're rare on Mt. Coronet and I'm pretty sure that you can't get one until the later stages of the story anyway. But if you're up to it, it could be a decent addition...

No I haven't thought of one of those yet. I plan on giving a Gengar a Psychic move or two (Dream Eater, Psychic?), so I think I want a more defensive type of Pokemon (Torterra and Giratina would make two, and I would like to have one more).

You guys are right about Golem though, so any other ideas? :(

EDIT: Nosepass is a good idea too, but you can't get it until pretty later in the game, which kind of upsets me. I really appreciate the ideas though. I just need one more!

You can get a Nosepass in Platinum the first time you pass through mount Cornet...It's actually pretty early

They are uncommon or rare, but they aren't THAT hard to find.

What about Hippodon (Sp?) Does it make a good physical wall even without the immunity gains of steel?

Well, I was actually just asking for me while I was in here...

...
Hippowdon is a defensive beast with plenty of HP, and has a good amount of attack, so I'd say it's a good choice.

I think there's a move that increases in attack with defense, that might be something good for him, but not too sure.

It was actually breed to be the perfect defensive powerhouse and is the only pokemon that has undergone proper EV training...BUT I noticed that most competitive Hippodon's have slack off...so I need to get a new one and breed it with a Slaking.

>.> Derailing thread. We all know Gengar > Torterra

But then again this thread looks done anyways, so I guess it doesn't matter in the end.
(unless OP doesn't like nose haired rocks)

That's the sole reason I'm not using Probopass

Nope. Not QUITE done yet. It's Probopass, not Probobass. Probobass sounds like a prodding electric fish.

Oh, and you're welcome for the idea of using Probopass. :)

Aaaaannnnnd...
Now it's done.

I fixed it. :p

I think the nose-haired rock will fit in quite nicely with my team tbh. >_>

And yes, the thread is done now.
