Yo! This is IC3R! It's not exactly a new RMT, but I'm reviving my old one...I am playing on Shoddy Battle since I don't own a DS or have Wi-Fi, and this team owns about 84% of everyone I've played...However, I know this team can still improve...

Just go to the fourth page to see my team in its current state, and we'll go from there.

If you want to see what it used to be and the commentary follwing, you be my guest; but the new stuff is on page four...have fun!

Calm Empoleon♀ @ Leftovers @ Torrent
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Grass Knot
Aqua Ring/Stealth Rock

Bashful Carnivine♂ @ Big Root @ Levitate
Giga Drain
Crunch
Leech Seed
Worry Seed

Modest Luxray♀ @ King's Rock @ Intimidate
Charge Beam
Bite
Thunder Wave
Protect

Bold Magmortar♀ @ Heat Rock @ Flame Body
Flamethrower
Solarbeam
Sunny Day
Barrier

Careful Gliscor♂ @ Persim Berry @ Hyper Cutter
Earthquake
Rock Slide
X-Scissor
Swords Dance

Modest Porygon Z @ Wisdom Glasses @ Download
Psychic
Dark Pulse
Ice Beam
Recover

Before rating and telling me I'm stupid:lick:, I am inexperienced with this game's engine, and I believe certain attacks work differently than they used to. And notice I didn't write down the EVs. I will have plenty of questions for you...

Fear my Diamond/Pearl n00Biness! :chuckle:

Wtf is a Carnivine? haha

Well, half your team is EQ weak. But you have 2 Pokes you can switch into, so thats a little better.

A Weavile with Ice Punch and Brick Break can do some serious damage to your team, because your team is weak to either Ice or Fighting (except Magmorter).

You need a Physical Wall for sure. I would recommend Slowbro, as he resists both Ice and Fighting. Take out Carnivine for him.

Sunny Day + Solarbeam is a bad idea. It gives your opponent a turn to switch into something that resists Magmortar, and can really mess you up.

Luxray is a bad Pokemon, I would suggest Electivire instead.

I dunno, sunny day + solarbeam + flamethrower isn't too bad, because it covers the bug/grass/steel resistances. The only thing resistant to both is dragon and fire. Rock slide can help hit fires, and hidden power ice can help with dragons, and both also hit flying for super effective.

Carnivine is a mediocre pokemon. Its best stat is attack at base 100, and that isn't even that great. Its speed and defenses are terrible. If you want a grass type try Breloom with spore, substitute, focus punch and another move (seed bomb, stone edge, mach punch).

Give Porygon-Z Tri-Attack, it's an amazing move for him. Get rid of Psychic or Dark Pulse. I would hae:

Tri-Attack
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Psychic/Shadow Ball/Nasty Plot

:yoshi: Blissey and Bastiodon say hello. ^_^

I would change Luxray to Adamant and give it Ice Fang so it's not completely stopped by Nidoking, Rhyperior, and Garchomp, among others.

I would also suggest at least one more physical attacker since Luxray's below average speed doesn't lend well to long term survival. I'd also like to see some EV spreads for some of your manz.

If you want to use Carnivine, but don't listen to whoever said to use Breloom unless you plan on getting jumped in a back alley after your matches. Because of your lack of speedy physical hitters, I would suggest Leafeon or maybe even Victreebel, especially under Sunny Day if you're intent on using a grass type.

OK, as for mister Weavile here, he has crap SpAt, so I'm not worryed about that Ice Punch so much as that Brick Break.

What's wrong with Flamethrower/Solarbeam/Sunny Day?

I'll go with Electivire, it can cover more types, anyway...

I'm trying to stick with 4th Gen Pokemon.

Question: Does Attack now apply to moves like Waterfall, Thunder Punch, and Ice Fang? If so, it's gonna take a while for me to make a good team... :(

OK, not really...

One thing I'm shocked no one has mentioned to you yet is this:

In Diamond/Pearl, what moves are considered Special or Physical is move-dependant, not type-dependant. If you look at the moves, there can be one of 3 symbols. A yin-yang symbol represents Status, something like Poison Powder or Spore.

A Star (or one of those "blam" things you see in comics and cartoons stand for Physical. Moves like Ice Punch, Jump Kick and the like now go off of Attack. So Ice Punch is to be feared on Weaville.

Purple ripples stand for Special Attack. Moves like Hyper Beam (which were once physical, making it feared on a Gyarados) is now a special move and goes off Sp.ATK.

Basically, the rule is this. If it hits by using range (shooting an energy beam, flamethrower, etc) it's Sp.ATK. If it physically connects, it's Physical (Attack)

Cross chop for electivire instead of rolling kick. You should start thinking about EVs.

Oh, GOD!! Garchomp again?! He's such a staple! And besides, Weavile w/Ice Punch ***** its face!
Did we forget this?:ohwell:

I replaced Carnivine with Tangrowth, which can function a bit like a Physi-Wall because of its high Defense. It also has Chlorophyll, which works with Magmortar's Sunny Day, so there's the Speed boost. Higher Speed helps with it's Rock Slide, which has a 30% chance of flinch.
Flinch + Leech Seed = Easy kills

I gave Electivire Rolling Kick because it has a 30% chance of flinch. Combined with Thunder Wave, which Paralyzes with a 25% chance of attack failure, and the King's Rock, the foe is either having muscle spasms or flinching. I win...
What if I made E-Vire Adamant, giving it T-Punch instead of T-Bolt?

I suppose you could give him T-Punch...

WTF is FlinchHAX:confused: I'm not really up-to-date with new Poke-Lingo...

NEEDS OPINIONS!!!

Would Carnivine or Tangrowth be better? Honesty helps, people...

If you're that obsessed with flinching, go with a Togekiss. It makes flinching a lot easier, and supports the team with moves like Thunder Wave and Wish to name a few.

DANG! You type tiny...

It's not that I'm obsessed with flinching, except on Electric types, it just turns out like that trying to cover weaknesses. Speaking of types, I try not to overlap unless I'm doing it on purpose--:pBut I understand about the Togekiss/King's Rock/Serene Grace/Air Slash combo.

Tangrowth is weak to Fire.
Tangrowth is weak to Flying.
Tangrowth is weak to Bug.
Rock Slide beats down flaming critters.
Rock Slide hits one bird with lots of stones.
Rock Slide smooshes buggies.
It's that simple.

I realized the combo I could do with Tangrowth/Chlorophyll/Rock Slide and Magmortar/Sunny Day/SolarBeam/Flamethrower later on, so I added it...

And again I ask, "WTF is a FlinchHAX?"

FlinchHax is combining Paralyzation with a Pokemon with Serene Grace and a Flinching move of at least 25%. (Togekiss has Air Slash, which is 60%) 60 + 20 = an 80% chance that the foe cannot attack.

I suggest you don't spam a thread, even if it's your's, because you'll get an infraction.

Newly-Revised Team:

Calm Empoleon♀ @ Leftovers @ Torrent
EV - HP 252, SpAt 252, Spd 6
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Grass Knot
Aqua Ring/Stealth Rock (Still can't decide! Help, please!)

If this is a lead Empoleon, use Stealth Rock and use Roar over Earthquake. Otherwise, use Roar over Aqua Ring and Surf over Earthquake. Put the 6 Speed EVs into SpDef.

Bashful Tangrowth♂ @ Big Root @ Chlorophyll
EV - HP 106, Def 152, SpDf 252
Giga Drain
Rock Slide
Leech Seed
Amnesia (Thinking about Reflect)

Don't use Amnesia or SpDef EVs on Tangrowth. Use this:

Tangrowth @ Leftovers
Impish
Ability doesn't matter.
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 28 Spd
-Sleep Powder
-Knock Off
-Leech Seed
-Power Whip

Adamant Electivire♀ @ King's Rock @ Motor Drive
EV - Att 252, Def 6, Spd 252
Thunder Punch
Ice Punch
Rolling Kick
Thunder Wave

Use Cross Chop over Rolling Kick.

Bold Magmortar♀ @ Heat Rock @ Flame Body
EV - Def 106, SpAt 252, Spd 152
Flamethrower
Solarbeam
Sunny Day
Thunderbolt

I'd take away the whole Sunny Day combo and use more Special Attacks and Speed EVs.

Careful Gliscor♂ @ Persim Berry @ Hyper Cutter
EV - Att 252, SpDf 6, Spd 252
Earthquake
Rock Slide
X-Scissor
Swords Dance

I'd use Aerial Ace over X-Scissors and maybe Liechi Berry over Persim Berry.

Modest Porygon Z @ Wisdom Glasses @ Download
EV - HP 100, SpAt 252, Spd 158
Psychic
Tri Attack
Ice Beam
Recover

I'd use Adaptability and Nasty Plot over Recover. Porygon-Z wants to be Timid and have more Speed EVs.

Not much change, but change nonetheless...

So you guys want me to drop Earthquake on Empoleon for Roar, to get a forced Stealth Rock hit...

I really liked my Tangrowth the way it was...Maybe I'll train both and see which one I likes better...

Electivire stays the way she is- Sorry Wii4Mii...

If no Sunny Day junk for Magmortar, what do you suggest? Hm?

Aerial Ace for Gliscor...I thought about that, and I was like "X-Scissor is cooler!" but whatever...
Liechi for Persim? What about poor Gliscor getting confused? He'll hurt himself lots...I'd switch, but that seriouly risks my next Poke getting hit with something fierce...What to do...

P-Z does need speed, I agree. Adaptibility pumps up Tri Attack, correct? Guess that works. Nasty Plot to shoot up SpAt...I was wondering what that move did, especially on a Pichu!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess I never mentioned this to everybody: I tend to do Double Battles more than Single.

That's why Empoleon had Earthquake. Not just to cover his Electric weakness, but because it could function with three of my other guys: Carnivine w/Levitate ability, Luxray w/Protect, and Gliscor w/Flying type. Gliscor could only do it with Carnivine and Luxray.
I didn't want Surf because it would hit my ally as well as both opponents, and it's unnecessary with Ice Beam and Earthquake covering for it plus several other types.

After switching Luxray for Electivire, I still wanted to FlinchHax with my Electric type. I unfortunately lost someone who could work with Earthquake. Turns out Magmortar can support Electivire's Motor Drive, hopefully outrunning CSWeaviles.

Changing out Carnivine for Tangrowth on my own honestly made me feel better about playing on a competitive level. I knew Tangrowth wouldn't be a big problem for Earthquake, because it has wicked Defense. I later designed it to work with Magmortar's Sunny Day, giving it Rock Slide and the Chlrophyll ability.

I gave Porygon-Z what roster it had because that always worked for me in the past; Color -> Metal -> Jewel cases. I beat the Final Match in the Second Round of Prime Cup in Pokemon Stadium 2 using only Porygon2. It was difficult, believe me. Especially on Tyranitar.
I do understand what you want to do, though.

Sorry to be critical of your critique, I know your doing what you think is right, and so I will do the same...
Thank you for your help so far...

IC3R, you seem like a very happy, jolly person. All of your posts show you're in a good mood.

If you're mainly doing double battles, I suggest having a strategy to use, like a Rain Dance team, or a Sunny Day team.

Take Recover off of porygon Z
his defense falls from
Porygon 2 - HP 85/ Def. 90 / SpDef. 95
to
Porygon Z - HP 85/ Def. 70 / SpDef. 75

Porygon Z is a much better Sp. Sweeper though thanks to its speed and sp. attack

I was looking over my team and noticed my lack of a Special Wall.

I went to Serebii.net to look up good 4th Gen Special Wall--I found Cressilia. I’m gonna replace Magmortar with her. Just one problem…Is it an Uber?
If not, this is what it'll be...

SuperWall Cressilia
@ Shoal Salt (Restores HP?)@ Levitate

Bold Nature (+Def,-Att)
EV - HP 6, Def 252, SpDf 252

Ice Beam
Thunder Wave
Light Screen
Reflect

Ice Beam will take down anything immune to T-Wave. Period.

I'm thinking since I like Doubles, I could pair Cressy with E-Vire, they can both T-Wave at the same time! And I’ll just IC3 anything unWaveable…
I also have this looooong reasoning as to why I think this...but I'm not gonna post it...It just has to do with typical Battle scenarios…

I want to know several things:
1. Am I wasting my time because it’s an Uber?
2. Is making it a Super Wall a good idea?
3. Are its nature, item, EVs, and move set okay? (Try to figure out what I want to do with it).
4. Would you be kind enough to help me like the past?

That’s pretty much it for Cress…Let the comments initiate…

Cressy is the best OU wall....yes its OU...(IMO it should be uber along with Heatran)
Good MS but change Reflect with Moonlight and give it Leftovers and give the poke that has leftovers already another item because Cressy will need it more....
You might want to replace Twave with Charge Beam for Pseudo Boltbeam....but your set works too....
also you could just replace Reflect with Charge Beam because reflect is not needed for Cressy IMO....

Reflect's not just for Cressilia, although it helps against many Physi-Sweepers. It's also used to guard Electivire and Porygon-Z, who have average Defense.

Heatrans ability lets it easily switch into Fire Attacks like Will o Wisp (which isn't too uncommon) and flamethrower which can usually be predicted and he resistant to almost everything....He is like a tanking alakazam with DECENT SPEED....as an added little bonus it resists SS....with the resistances it has and its ability to tank and still outspeed quiet a few pokes i think it should be Uber....i think he only has Two Weaknesses....or three...i forget

I think Cressy should be OU less than Heatran...but its stats are too well distributed for OU but in Ubers its as useful as a baby form of Giratina....i wouldn't mind as much if this stayed OU....

MS = Moveset
Pseudo BoltBeam= Thunderbolt and Ice Beam hits every pokemon in the game for neutral damage other than Magnezone, Laturn, and a few more. It's pseudo because your replacing Tbolt for Charge Beam (because Cressy doesn't learn TBolt)

also you wont benefit from reflect too much because most pokes use Brick Break as a fighting move (which i think your team is weak too) and that breaks the reflect....
but you might keep it but i think Pseudo Passing isn't good

No problem. I only made the changes because Weavile pretty much walls that Cres

with out something like Charge Beam for damage. Or you could switch out, but where's the fun in that? :p

Final Results!!!

Okay, I'm gonna D-P again, no one's talking...

Revised team, yet again:
============
Calm Empoleon♀ @ Shell Bell @ Torrent
EV - HP 252, SpAt 252, SpDf 6
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Grass Knot
Stealth Rock

The best way to use Empoleon to me would be to get a good or neutral type match-up, Stealth Rock, then just attack...If the opponent is overwhelmed with Empoleon's onslaught, they'll be hesitant to switch out because of Stealth Rock. Only problem's gonna be a CSWeavile leading the opponent's team...
============
Bashful Tangrowth♂ @ Big Root @ Chlorophyll
EV - HP 106, Def 152, SpDf 252
Giga Drain
Rock Slide
Leech Seed
Sleep Powder

Put b****es to sleep, Seed'em, and give'em a nutritious balance of Giga Drain and Rock Slide...
============
Adamant Electivire♀ @ King's Rock @ Motor Drive
EV - Att 252, Def 6, Spd 252
Thunder Punch
Ice Punch
Rolling Kick
Thunder Wave

FlinchHax rules...
============
Bold Cressilia♀ @ Leftovers @ Levitate
EV - HP 30, Def 252, SpDf 252
Ice Beam
Thunder Wave
Reflect
Light Screen

Pretty much any Sweeper with a Dark or Ghost attack is going to be a Physi-Sweeper. CSWeavile is always gonna hit'er with Night Slash, and everyone has their own appropriate attack...Reflect will halve the damage taken. Light Screen is for Gengar and Porygon-Z, mainly...Any of these Sweepers that's T-Waved is immediately much less of a threat...
============
Careful Gliscor♂ @ Lum Berry @ Hyper Cutter
EV - Att 252, SpDf 6, Spd 252
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Aerial Ace
Swords Dance

Physi-Sweeper, you know the drill...
============
Timid Porygon-Z @ Wisdom Glasses @ Adaptibility
EV - HP 60, SpAt 252, Spd 198
Tri Attack
Psychic
Ice Beam
Agility

Special Sweeper, yet another drill...but wait! Agility instead of Nasty Plot? Well, P-Z has the 4th highest Special Attack Stat in the entire game, behind Alakazam (just because of numbering) and seven Ubers, most of them sharing the same Base SpAt. So P-Z really has the BEST Special Attack in its class, even higher than Gengar! Agility is there because...Sweepers. Need. Speed. If Nasty Plot is a better option, so be it! P-Z likes Agility, though...

My team, everyone! If there is something else to fix, let me know. If there is nothing else to fix, I'll take these bad boys (and girls, plus a genderless) to Chill for a professional rating...unless he's reading now...
