Range vs. Reach

It seems to me that many people confuse the terms range and reach when describing attacks. Range refers to projectile attacks, and describes how far that projectile attack goes. Reach describes non-projectile attacks, and describes how far that character's attack reaches.

Questions? Comments? Is this opinion correct?

well range is used when a projectile is used and how far it goes and reach is when the character uses a regular attack and how much it reaches

language is something that only has meaning by its collective use. if someone says "range" and you know what they mean, they have successfully portrayed their message.

Marth's sword: range or reach?

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I'm not trying to be terribly picky, but when I started reading some of the threads about the different characters, it took me awhile to realize that when people were talking about a non-projectile move's "range", that they were talking about how far that attack reached.

well first of all you do sound kinda picky, but at the same time i dont blame you at all. i guess you could say its an error that should be corrected, maybe, but good luck doing so, most people (me included i admit) just say "marth has cheap range with his sword" when maybe we should say reach.

i dont know, but good luck gettin all the people who say "range" to say "reach". probably wont work lol, changing people's habits is hard.
