Why should we go out and tell someone good job for getting 13th/26? That's a ****ty placing no matter how you look at it.

Same for Zinoto I'm not gonna tell him good job for beating a bunch of people worse than he is. It's not like it's super hard to win a tournament when you're better than everyone else who entered.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no.... just because someone wins a tournament doesnt mean there better than everyone. why u might ask? for example..... nom is better than me yet i placed higher. but we didnt play each other either see. i didnt play anther nor zonoto in bracket. idk what your talking about bro. my point makes total sense. another example would be.... say loe1 couldnt beat anther cause hes not ueed to pikachu.. but lets say i know pika well... if loe 1 beats me but looses to anther... yet i could beat anther... im all of a sudden the better player? hope this makes sense

I don't think you understand how good Zinoto is at smash in general lol. He doesn't even own PM, nor does he practice it and he gets mostly 1st or at least top 3. He also places 1st at almost every single Brawl tournament in the midwest that he goes to...

Yeah, Zino's pretty freaking good. Some of it I guess is carry over from Brawl and Melee (Where he mained Doctor Mario) but a lot of it is that general "smash intelligence". A fair amount of players speak positively about him in just about any smash game he plays. Ally is much of the same (except now he plays PM at least a bit more) and we all saw what he did at APEX.

Keep in mind that even though Zino doesn't own... er, well now he does, but doesn't practice PM (not that he has to, PM Mario is more or less an improved Doc), he's been playing and winning tournaments in it for almost a full year now. I've been playing and practicing PM for years and I've yet to take a set off of him --- I'm something like 0-6 vs him or some **** and got 3-0'd the last time we played. Not that I'm anything amazing, but I've come within stocks of taking sets off of the likes of people like Zino, Ally, Slayer and Dope--- people that are generally considered strong in this game on this side of the region.

Also, Ganondorf vs Wario is doable, but kinda hard. I lost a $1 MM in it vs LOE1 two weeks ago 2-3 and saw Fizzle more or less lose to Carls' Wario in much of the same way last weekend.

Finally, I wonder how much Alex used his set vs me (which he lost 1-2) to beat Tech this last weekend. o__o

yea i understand how good he is. i think u guys are missing my point lol. ehh and i hate brawl. idc who wins or who is the best at that for as long as i live. (no disrespect just imo) i would of loved to of played him though. almost beat anther in friendlies lol. but then again i seem to be the only one in the world to take friendlys just as serious as tourney matches. mario and pika rank higher on the tier board then ganon so i cant complain. im glad i beat a sheik.

ohh last but not least, i wouldnt read too much into people saying they dont own project m. i played melee last night for the first time in a month and the timings of things were way different. felt like a completly different game. honestly if someone tells me they dont own it... yet always place high in bracket im calling bull crap. ive been playing for 6 months now. and u mean to tell me a guy who doesnt own it or practice finishes 1rst? sounds fishy. cause snake and the other brawl characters arnt in melee so how do u know the mu??? cause even brawls version is way different then pm.

sorry guys its all imo. i mean no harm from what i said in this message. just giving different perspective i guess lol

Oh the timing in melee are actually more strict than Project: M for the most part, so it's easy to transition from Melee to P:M, but not from P:M to melee. Also Julian (Zinoto), doesn't go around making claims about being able to win these events without practicing, everyone just brags for him because he's so good and it's to be honest, very impressive. Since he has been entering P:M events for a year though, that is playing the game long enough to be comfortable but when he actually starts playing outside of tournaments, he's gonna be even scarier. XD

That all comes down to how much knowledge you have in Smash in general. Zinoto is a very smart player, and the knowledge he has and his ability to read his opponent carries over between games. He also used to play Melee a lot with talented players in his area, so, like what L_Cancel said, he was able to easily transfer his Melee skills to P:M. So it's possible to do well in P:M without actually playing the game, as long as you have the knowledge and experience.

Another example: I used to have a tendency to lose to players who are mainly Brawl players and don't practice Melee/P:M. I still have that tendency, but I know what to do to get rid of it now. I used to think that playing over-aggressively vs them would be the way to go because "they won't be able to keep up with my speed." The thing is, they were still able to beat me because, since Brawl is more emphasized on reading your opponent, they were still able to out-play me and punish my habits no matter how fast I play.

Being the best player doesn't mean you will win, but if you are losing to Wolf and placing in the top 10 at apex, you dawn well should be able to stomp a state when it's next best player took 52nd.

Also when you say things like "I'm sick of this community for not giving credit to anyone for anything they do." That's not a different perspective, it's a criticism. And if you are going to base criticisms on garbage logic, I'm going to let you know.

Also zinoto does laugh about how the PM community is awful at their game, he's just smart enough to not do it where there will be proof.

There's plenty of room for the Project: Melee community to grow as a whole. Not just Melee or Brawl players going into the game but pretty much everyone. And isn't that the exciting part? Personally, I find it enjoyable to play with many others who are also still growing constantly and learning new things about their character(s) and themselves. It's a bit different from Melee which has been around for over a decade now and Brawl which has been around for a while as well. Even if we're all still "garbage" at the game, at least everyone is having a good time, learning and experiencing riveting sets. Hell, at least these people are actually playing the game and trying to learn everything they can. That's more than many of us Brawl players who are just getting their feet wet can say. They're no different from LOE1 in 2011 or Sparta Kick circa 2009. One day, Identity Crisis or Shwick or Nom could become the next top player. Some people just have that Smash Intelligence and others just have really good intuition and adaptability. We're all different. And that's what makes a scene like this exciting.

I'm eager to see how things progress for our scenes here in Michigan.

I was going to say something heated in response about the "bad at their own game" thing, but idk, I guess there's not much to say. For now, it's true People enjoy what they want and if they do so competitively, they seek to improve. I'm extremely happy to see players really care about what they play and I'm glad to see that it's on something I like, care about, and felt good enough about to be a part of developing.

If Julian really feels that way, that's also okay. I'm glad that he has enough interest to keep playing and in doing so and that a talented player like him inspires other people (like me, from a purely competitive side) to push themselves to become better players. While he might not hold a torch for the game, I love to see people like Alex, Nom, Maestro and Shwick doing so. I've seen them grow a lot as players by doing just that and have more to keep doing, which I hope to cultivate (since, imo OH vs MI and that sort of **** doesn't really matter to me) in ways that I can. Not just in PM, but in the Brawl/Melee events I run or help run, too.

Also pretty well said, Tech.

I agree with u guys. I thought the same thing apasher. I thought if I played really fast against brawl players I would win lol.
