so GITG was pretty good.

i think i'll host GITG 2 after pound 5. i'm hoping it'll be pretty big, and will make every effort to that end. you missed some serious hype matches, but luckily you also missed cop involvement, so in a way, i'm glad you didn't have to experience that.

GITG 2 will be an amazing event though. once i announce it, i hope to get you guys's approval and hype accordingly.

When will the next one of these be though? once my car gets back in order, i may be able to hit one of these in december.

Yesterday the residence hall staff, university's video game club, and I organized a Melee tournament where we got 14 players to show up, 10 of which were new players who probably don't even know about Smashboards. A lot of them want me to make a tournament for Brawl before the semester ends (Dec 17). Would any of you all be interested? I could really use all the help I can get for setups and hype.

However, because the university doesn't like gambling, I don't think we can make this a tournament with standard payouts. Also, a $5 entry fee would scare away those potential new players. We can't easily hand out money as prizes since a university club is associated with this event. Last tournament's prizes where snacks I bought form a 7-11; 12 pack case of Sierra Mist, 2 liter bottle of Mountain Dew, big bag of Sun Chips, etc. I might repeat the same idea unless someone can offer any new ideas.

You won't mind if I try to make this event focused on the new players, right?

ACM, a computer science club, is hosting a video game social event, with Smash Brothers Melee and Brawl, Guitar Hero, Halo Reach, DDR, and Mario Kart, plus maybe a few extra games, this Saturday December 11. Anyone's welcome to join in

Go to Sypher's. This is mainly targeting anyone close by (like Radford and Virginia Tech) and this looks like it's going to be only a small event.

Well I think my partner/ride Shae wanted to go to Sypher's on the 18th anyway.

So we may come out to this. Depends if he feels like driving. I pay for his gas whenever we go somewhere.

Isn't Hampton, VA a 5 hour drive from Blacksburg? The event lasts only 4 hours (5-9pm).

shouldn't be a horrible drive for you guys. it's outside of charlotte, but hopefully GA and others will be there along with a LOT of NC.
