Quick question concerning the shine

Now I know waveshine>wavedash>utilt/shine>rinse and repeat is a great way to combo with Falco but what I can't seem to find anywhere or figure out on my own is how to determine which way the enemy will fly from the initial shine (yes I know they will DI some). What I'm curious to know is if there is a way to predict if they will fly left or right in the air after the shine so I can know which way to waveshine after hitting them. Usually I just have to see them go a certain direction and then go that way but is there any preknowledge to knowing where they will go?

usually i just look at what side of the shine i hit them one and that tends to be the direction they fly.

if however they have great di and go in the direction contrary to the side you shine dthem on, as long as you wavedash out right away, it doesnt matter if you went the wrong direction you can just chase with a Dair>shine anyway.

Aight sounds good. Also if they happen to DI the opposite direction, a wavedash back would put me close enough to shine again on some occasions. I had thought of the direction being dependent upon what side I was on but wasn't sure so I wanted some input.

srubby players will sort of instinctively DI away just like doing teh get-up attack, while umm.. more decent players will think about it more. you just have to read, or throw out a bair and cover both options

Aight so this has helped with that problem quite a bit and I'm finding it easier to follow them with shines. But I'm having a new problem of being able to do things like shine bair or dair but I'm not sure if I'm just not moving fast enough and it takes a ton of practice or if I'm doing something wrong. I've noticed sometimes I would hit were it not that I've drifted away a little. Any suggestions?

so ur asking about doing shine to instant bair or dair ?

on the ground you have extra lag, land jumps take longer to execute than double jumps so if you're trying to shine bair from the ground the reason you're probably missing is that theres too much startup lag so it doesnt really work.

if you're having trouble doing it in the air, try slowing down. Shine bair/dair honestly isnt THAT fast and when you try to do it too fast you mess up a lot so yea try slowing down.
it also can depend on the button combination you're using. If you are using X/Y to jump cancel and c-stick to aerial, then it can be difficult and take too long to go from x/y to c-stick to do it fast enough.

yea that seems like a contradiction, but using x/y to jump and c-stick to aerial can make things tougher.
you could try to use the joystick to jump out of the shine and then c-stck, or you cud use x/y to jump then joystick+A to aerial cuz its closer/faster to hit A after x/y than the yellow stick.

in short:
shine bair/dair from the ground doesnt work well because of startup lag
in the air, try generally slowing down, it helped me.
if not, experiment with other combinations of buttons to execute.

Waveshine only combos fox and falco at low/low-mid percentages. Everybody else can jump away unless you follow up with an aerial while they are still in hit stun. I'm pretty sure of this.

^ ya.. for eg.. against a sheik you wouldnt waveshine.. those miliseconds spent on that wavedash could cost you that dair you were supposed to do and then follow up with utilt to more combo
