Quick question about buying Action Replay

I was wondering what version of action replay I need to access the debug menu and if I need some type of action replay memory card with the disc or maybe an extra gamecube memory card, since I only own one gamecube memory card?

Would the action replay here work?

Sorry if there's a thread that explains this already. I tried searching on here and on other sites, but I couldn't figure out what version of action replay I needed or whether or not I needed some type of special action replay memory card.

If anyone could tell me the answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

probably not, new ARs don't allow you to enter custom codes so you can't access the debug menu =[ try a pawn shop to find an old one is your best bet

Thank you. I'll try to do some searching. Do you know what version(s) I need to access the debug menu?

you need one of the old ar's, and dont be fooled a lot of sites will use pictures of the old ar's and just send you the new ones.

I have the working action replay for gamecube right here with me. On the bottom of the disc when I hold it up to the light, it says thin ice media, Gamecube action replay version 1.06. That's the one you need.

As for the debug menu, you just use the code that corresponds with your melee version. Also it has to be on your gamecube, the wii blocks function of the old action replays.

If you're using a Wii, there's probably something homebrew based that'd do the job.

It's fairly complex to get Action Replay running via homebrew on a Wii.

Unfortunately I only own a Gamecube. Is it possible to softmod my cube and then use a backup of the older action replay to access the debug menu?

The one I have is a purple-gray(grey)-ish disk, and it says "Action Replay MAX" on the front. You can enter codes on it, and it works pretty well. Never had any problems.
