So recently I just got a trojan on my laptop =/.

I'm trying to remove it using my anti-virus software. But I have a question.

Whats my chances of successfully removing the trojan using my anti-virus software(Happens to be MCafee)?

Is it worth trying to remove it or should I just delete my hard drive now and re-install the OS?

Well, trojans break easily and I heard that they feel uncomfo- Oh, you meant the computer virus.

Trokans aren't usually that big of a deal, and Mcafee should be able to remove it. However, I would also get another virus program to back it up since Mcafee usually messes up a bit.

I would recommend A-squared or AVG, in that order.

You were more than likely infected with a rootkit, which probably was spawned from the trojan you got infected with. Rootkits are **** near impossible to fully get rid of unless you use specialized programs like GMER. Forget anti-virus programs like AVG and Mcafee. They can't detect rootkits at all.

Wiping the hard drive is the only foolproof solution, so it's good you did that to insure you're clean.
