where can i learn the design skills neccesary for the artwork. i have extracted the files, but suck at editing.

Open the .tga file in GIMP or Photoshop and have at it.

Study the 3D in game model as much as possible and figure out where each and every little part goes... that's why I'm really good in only a few people like Marth and Link. It really pays off to look at the in game model.

There's actually a program that shows which part is what. Forgot what though.

It does take a lot of practice though.
I look at my own gallery from time to time and notice how much more detailed I become at each texture.
People value detail, so add as much as possible that adds to the overall character.
If it seems too tedious, do it anyway. You could've just got 50 more people to Download it because they liked that part.
