THE HALL OF FAME WHERE THE COOL PEOPLE GO
Alright, so while I was completely kicking all sorts of *** at brawl (because that's what I do aside college work and putting people in their place), I came across a conundrum. I play Link in a spammy way, keeping my opponent at a distance (and using my very own Gale guarding technique that you all wish you had come up with). But I was playing my friend (as Ice climbers) and he managed to get past my projectiles and maneuver his way to me and started to chain grab me. I wasn't going to allow myself be *****slapped by him, but I couldn't think of anything to do. My problem is, what is the best option for fighting opponents that get past projectiles?

Also, what is the supirior way to take out Jigglypuff? I've been having some problems dealing with that one too especially (the short hop arieals and abusing the jumps to evade spam have become a serious issue).

I need some freakin help. Now.

Aurashade is asking for help? Is the universe still here? Or did I miss it? I'm confused.
Well, I would say, "Just don't suck," but I'm not one to give much advice on Link.

Against Jigglypuff, I have one suggestion.

Use the U-tilt. If I know anything, it should stop most of her decent approaches.

yeah that's no help at all considering I'm better that most of the people that post on these boards.

Umm....did you know Link has a sword? I'm not kidding, it's in his left hand! Have you ever tried using it before?
yeah, I did. But what I didn't know that found until recently is that your parents don't love you-by the looks of it they haven't...ever...

Use the big green A button as opposed to the little red B button, it can work wonders.
You're not in any way funny so just stop posting altogether.

It's the sign of the apocalypse.

Against Jiggs, use your Utilt to stop her approach.

ICs...or others, you might have to play tank...

Yeah, I tried tanking him last night and that got my innards ripped. For his IC I basically have to **** with him with the GB.

Any more losers here what want to be all ******** and act like this is the end of the world? This is the reason I put half of you morons in place, its because you can't give help when told.

In all seriousness, I find it works well for me that if they can avoid / bypass the spam, to close the gap a bit and keep up the spam. Quick Draw arrows can catch them off guard, and the GB at shorter range is a nice solid hit that knocks them down often. Usually if they're pretty far away when they land, they will choose to roll towards me as their get up move, which is very easy to punish with an charged arrow. Also being closer to them gives you more options to punish their evasion, like if they come at you with a jump, throwing GB to make them dodge, then follow up with F-air, N-air or whatever. The AAA jab can help on the ground if you think they will sidestep, since you can fairly often follow it up with a D-smash or DAC'd Up-smash, depending on where they DI'd. You can also try Jab-canceling to do a D-smash instead of the 3rd poke, which usually can reach under their shield.

Sorry for the generality and probably repeating what you already know, but I can't really give any specifics since I haven't fought any Jigglypuff's / IC's since maining Link (I usually play against an Ike main). Overall I would say if the spam doesn't work, close the gap and take the fight to them, which is not to say to forsake your projectiles entirely. Just use them to supplement a close-combat/attack approach putting them on the defensive, rather than letting them come to you. If you keep up the pressure I'm sure you'll find an opening to deflate the pink puffball, for great justice.

That was very helpful actually, thank you very much.

Wow, I didn't think I was gonna start a line of fake insult posts, lol. I just can't give any specifics about a certain character, because I'm just not a crazy Link mainer like I used to be. That and I was just giving crap.

Wow. So many things wrong with this.

1. He doesn't know you. Don't argue with such an inane/humorous statement.
2. These make you look like a spoiled little *****.
3. Probably most important, gifts don't equal love from your parents.
4. Halo is so quick man. You should have beat it hours ago.

(Please respond to 4. It will be hilarious.)

Besides all that. Dude, play alot of practice games completely without projectiles. You're gonna lose alot, but it will make your melee game alot better. When you think you can hold your own, integrate the two playstyles and you should be unstoppable again.

Yes, I'll admit it. I'm spoiled, that that doesn't mean I think gifts=love. No no, I don't think like that. I enjoy having chats with my parents, we always have a good night out, lots of laughter everywhere, days at the park, little things like that. Besides They didn't get every console on day 1. I had to earn all those things. It's not like"It's your birthday, here's a PS2! Enjoy!" If only it were that easy.

As for Halo...ya. A day and a half is a very short time to beat the story, but what I'm trying to do is grab all the achievements to get the Hayabusa.......Haysubu...Hiyabu? Whatever, That kick-@$$ armor and Sword that goes on Master Chief's back, but I'm too busy brawling to worry about such a thing.

Holy god, this post made me literally made my day. Thanks for the help.

if IC give you that much trouble, then personally I think you should just find a secondary to take them.
Well as of late the results have become me barely beating ICs and losing to jiggles. I'm going to secondary Pit against jiggles, which won't limit me to the stage to attack, per se

Omg, so much bashing! Lol!

Ok...um maybe if you could get a video up of you fighting said IC and Jiggs, Aurashade, then maybe it would be easier for people to help out. Myself included question mark

That would really help out. I really can't think of Aurashade being beating so easily. Then again I've never seen a match of him fighting.

That shows how broken TL is. I pwned everyone of the competitive friends I have the first time I ever played TL. That was a month after the game came out. *sigh*

But that aside, does the IC or Jiggs players, or player, have a camera that can be used? Or maybe a replay?

Uair does good, zair also does really well, short hop back with zair is an easy way to keep spacing against short hopped approaches. You could do short hop fowrads doing zair for an offense. Short hopping zair is hard to master though.

Also try mixing up your boomerang directory by angling your control stick when you throw it if you havent already, it mixes it up a lot, plus upward directed boomerang throws stops shorthop approachs if they do it too early.

You could also be really creative with bombs, thats always an option,

what in god's name is a zair? If you mean airdodging, then everything you said is practically useless. But whatever.

Z-air is using the grab attack in air, in Link's case the clawshot. It doesn't grab but it has a pretty respectable range, and has no landing lag. Doesn't do a ton of damage or knockback, comparable to a uncharged arrow, but helps mix up your game a bit and keep them on their toes.

oh **** you its not that hard to type a ****ing work instead of using "__air" my god

besides, I can beat you up in real life.

I think I know how to use the hookshot that you very much. But while you're in a mental *********** stupor it may be hard for you to realize that I'm still better than you in every way.

my, someone's feeling rather insecure today. not to mention, passive aggressive, too!

you're one of those folks who sit upon their high horse of elitism, throwing any remark you have up your sleeve just to assume superiority over everyone. just lovely.

maybe that's why you're not doing so hot as link?
