Hi, former forum lurker here, new to advanced techs and unfortunately I now get owned by people who roll a lot and then rush in when there is an opening (how I used to play). I did a search, and found out that there are no threads about punishing people who roll a lot. Can anyone tell me the tools falco has to punish people who roll?

it comes with experience i guess. theres only so many times a guy can do a predictable move before he gets... well.... predicted. unless youre really slow, youll catch on.

but there are several ways i guess. if he is trying to roll past you, you can react quick and wavedash backwards for a hit. if hes on the ground you wait to see what he is going to do. if he does a hit, just shield grab otherwise chase it and grab again. maybe you can chase with a SHL into attack or something. there are too many ways to punish rollers. the fact of the matter is that its a predictable move and as your falco gets faster, youll be able to punish rolling easier

another thing is, if youre getting owned by someone rolling alot you are definitely doing something wrong. rolling is slow and predicatble and unless youre using the laggiest possible moves, i dont see how you are losing because of a rolling enemy. this shouldnt be too big of a problem once you master the gun.

Yeah, just listen to what the others say, and you will get better at punishing it. If they are edgerolling you too, run at the edge, wavedash back and charge a Dsmash, that is always funny, and actually packs a punch. Just a random tip, after you have learned to punish rolls, make sure you are not what you are punishing, if you a killing rollers, and you start to roll, they know what to do

Keep smashing, you will improve :)

If you can follow there roll then you can do what was mentioned before such as wavedash back and fsmash or if they roll away you can wavedash > dash > dair > shine combo one of the things I'm just starting to do. Following the roll with a dair if their going away is pretty easy once you know how. You could do the same for if they roll to you or behind you with the wavedash> dair > shine combo. Lots of options you can do dsmash nair usmash bair shine or even shuair???

Just remmeber punishing them isn't based of the attack you do its more based on if you can read their movements and catch them off gaurd from it before they can defend against it! OF course at certain percents vs certain characters certain moves will be more effective! Hope this helps you out a little and anything repeated I apologize didn't read all above posts
