Hello,

I have trouble kneeing foxes if they flub their techs. When I try d-throw (fox flubs tech) to knee, I weak knee or fox's invincible frame is already up. I never seem to be able to sweetspot it when a fox misses their tech. Does anyone have advice?

take falcon and short hop, then immediately FF ASAP. This is how quickly you should be FFing even when you knee, just knee during the FF and it should work out. When I react to failed techs I generally go off of the green impact on the ground that appears when they hit it and dont tech. If fox is getting up you either reacted too slowly or were too far away from fox when he failed the tech

you dont react to missed techs, unless you're in the zone, and they're really close to you.

and even if you did, they probably ****ed up.

would it be better to use the c-stick or the control stick for the knee if you fast fall when you are doing it? The c-stick seems slow for this. Also, is it the same green impact when you try to pop fox up in the air with a stomp?

Generally, the only thing you should be doing on reaction is jab reset. If you don't start the knee until you've already seen them miss the tech, I'm almost certain they have enough time to getup attack/roll/stand.

Just wait for them to do something, then punish!

Oh thanks guys, I found out the problem. I was actually tipping the knee instead of sweetspotting like normal. It has to be on the center part of the knee when you hit someone who has flubbed their tech.

As a side note, if you grab a fox after he has just l cancelled it is very likely that he will not tech since the l cancel counts as a missed tech input and so he cannot tech in the next 30 frames (or something not sure of the actual amount). In addition, you should mix in the jump cancelled up smash as a punish for the no tech :)

That's only true if they learned to lcancel the wrong way. A partial push that would result in a light shield counts for lcanceling, and does not count as an attempted tech.

Besides, I'm pretty sure Falcon's grab + throw take longer than 30 frames to do...

The no tech and spot tech can be covered with the same timing of aerial e.g. a slightly delayed knee. Reacting to no tech implies you are in the air already and you then pull out this timing of aerial to semi predict the no tech or spot tech. It sort of feels like a reaction but isnt really. At least this is what i experience.
