That would be awful if that were to actually happen. I really hope SSB4 is much better than Brawl, I plan to get the 3ds version so I hope that it's good on that.
Removing random tripping and ledge camp exploits= already better then Brawl.

If there are the pessimist, then I am the idealist. Smash4 will be the step in the right path going by the basic info given so far.

Project M will become the future of Brawl after it's released, due to the rising tournament attendance for P:M and drop in Brawl event attendance.

So yeah, P:M still has a few good years left init, alongside. Smash 4 and Melee.

I don't know about the rest of you but I don't plan on dropping PM ever
If everyone keeps that mindset, well there ya go

but that's the thing
it's not irrational at all, there are a lot of reasons to think it's bad, including plenty of ones that aren't "because it's not Melee/PM"
I actually like brawl, to quote what someone else called it (can't remember who) it's similar to a boxing match in that you earn every single hit. The only really huge problems are metaknight and tripping.

That being said I won't go so far as to call it a better game then PM or melee, I just appreciate it for what it is.

More like a game of tag to 300% then someone dies... maybe. Brawl has more problems than that. Let's not forget about moves that are unsafe on hit and the fact a handful of characters aren't viable because Dedede exists. Brawl sucks.

PM will die when either
A) Nintendo won't let it be streamed/played at major events like Apex/Pound/Evo
B) The backroom says screw it, like Brawl+ went. Someone's gonna cry about balance, someone's gonna ask for single player **** we don't need/can't code, etc.

Brawl also has an random input delay of 0-2 frames.
And some incredibly inconsistent mechanics, such as not being able to DI moves that don't send you into tumble, but being able to DI horizontally angled moves farther than regular moves... for no reason.

Depends what you mean. A lot of it comes down to preference all things considered. For instance I enjoy PM, but I find it's emphasis on balance and a lighter tech skill barrier (ie recoveries) softens many aspects of competition in relation to other smash games including adaptation and ingenuity. In that sense it's not irrational for this and other complaints about PM to be considered irrational either. But PM has it's strengths as well as do all smash games, so calling any game bad becomes hypocritical unless you're willing to call your game bad as well. But why maintain such a pessimistic perspective?
the recoveries arn't that overpowered. As a matter of a fact, over half of the cast has an inferior recovery over fox; a character whom I believe has a balanced recovery with the rest of the cast maybe slightly have a better recovery depending on how it is used. But project M isn't a perfect game either (the single player is almost nonexistant, the pt's pokemon still don't have final smashes) but I believe it will get better through more updates.

Unsafe moves on hit always suck and are unfortunately in alot of fighting games (blanka says high). Also D3 is the best :p

I think PM will keep living, along with Melee, regardless of how Smash 4 turns out. Brawl will most certainly be forgotten quickly, however, after Smash 4 is released.

On the topic of Smash 4: it probably won't be as popular as Melee was, but from what I've seen it is already looking much better than Brawl. I believe that both Melee and Smash 4 will coexist together in the future, along with Project M as the side tournament event

Personally, I will probably move my attention to smash 4, purely because Im a very "new: kinda person. I Like Brawl more than melee, simply because of all the neat new things and characters there were c:

That being said, I will always keep a copy of P:M on my SD card, but it wont be played much after Smash 4 release. Again, this is all just me ^-^

In general though? Project M (unless given a C&D by Nintendo) will stand firm as a competitive game. Frankly, unless Smash 4 blows everything out of the water, I wouldnt be surprised if Project M became the ONLY Smash in tournaments.

Those are some pretty lame and misinformed complaints about Brawl. The frame delay is the only real one there. I've seen less but similar minded complaints about Melee as well. Granted I understand saying you don't like a game bc of certain aspects but calling it bad or another game better bc it has what you like is dumb.

My biggest gripe with many people in the PM community (not the game) is they put more effort into complaining about mechanics then they do improving at games. PM seems to draw out these people who will only bother trying when things are straight forward balanced and simple rather than face anything that might require adversity. There are plenty of players that prove with effort gameplay and mechanics of the game can give them a competitive edge in other smash games.

Also regarding recovery it's personally my least favorite part of PM and I've heard many others complain about it too, but I agree the game is fine just my taste. I will say though returning to neutral from offstage is the easiest in PM.

"returning to neutral from offstage is the easiest on PM"
well for one
you DO appear to main Pikachu... who has one of the safest recoveries thanks to quick attacks speed and cancel
and for two
if that's your general observation, then I think the people you are playing against are garbage, or you/they play only the few characters with unpunishable recoveries

Also, what exactly is "lame" or "misinformed" about those "complaints" I mentioned when they are fact
Inconsistency is just bad game design.

Cassio i can assure you that drinkingfood is complete garbage at this game. I palyed him with 1 week of experience in pm(i havent touched smash bros since 2010, and never learned melee) while he has been playing for nearly a year and i just bodied his ass like 15 straight. lol take everything he says with a grain of salt. He's just trying his hardest to fit in by calling brawl bad and kissing ass in the PM tier list thread.

Lol, well it's fine regardless of skill most people who criticize it the way it was usually don't have a good understanding of it competitively.

Anywho DF, how are they inconsistent? I understand not liking the design or thinking its weird but it doesn't change for random reasons. Its like calling ledge get up inconsistent bc there's one over and under 100. Just know when it applies.

And there are a lot of characters with good recoveries in PM, the big difference compared to brawl at least is that from the ledge getting back onto stage is significantly easier.
