Screw y'all. I haven't really had the focus to work on it, but writing is a blast, and I improved immensely due to the 100k words of incomplete story I put into on that site.

ETA: omg the inuyasha fandom is full of tons of horrid ficcers. I know you're just trollin, but seriously stay away from that ****, it's crazy full of Mary Sues and yaoicest and weird crap like that.

The (only) sport I really love is chess (apart from esports). I was playing soccer a few years in childhood and I still enjoy playing it in PE, but I was never as dedicated getting better as in chess.
As my name does say, I do play chess. I got that tag around 2010 because in the years before I was really addicted to chess.
It can be a burden though because that tag means you have to be good at it and it gets a part of your identity, so I am much more sad after every chess loss than after every other loss.
Probably M2K is also in an identity crisis after losing to Emukiller lol
Between 2011-2012 I wasn't practicing chess anymore although I am in some sort of club where I can play at least ~3 hours per week. I always felt that in my age group, I had a slight edge over everyone. That changed in these years although they practiced even less.
After that I practiced more again, but the results aren't really there yet. Around March/April this year, I was playing 3 hours a day again and felt really strong.
In the last tournament, one month ago, I faced someone in my age group who is ranked a few points higher and lost. Probably I was too nervous because I put in all those hours in the holidays and maybe I was a bit rusty because I didn't practice since then, but he didn't, too, so I think I might lose many games because of my mindset. I am more serious about chess than the others and still I feel like I need much more practice to compete. Chess can get me more heartbroken than (almost) anything else.

As far as the metagame goes, chess is close to 20XX already.
Only if one player really messes up the other one can win, computers went deep into the opening.
Players accepted there is no best opening, but only openings that makes it the easiest for your opponent to blunder. While people were often saying White could win with perfect play (its like a 53-47 matchup in favour of white), this isn't true. Similar in Smash matchups that close won't be able to be pushed harder in the favour of the side with the advantage, it will be decided by the amount of reads (because if a situation is "drawn" in Smash reads are the only thing to break these equilibriums, because there is no draw in Smash).
People will start runnning in specific hits to avoid getting pressured, only taking that hit and not allowing any followups, instead of avoiding getting hit for as long as possible and then getting combod. Also here top players in chess, when in an unfavourable position, sarifice a pawn for initiative without getting it back but therefor improving their pieces (analogy: your spacing and stage position) through the one move they got.
In chess, people aren't even playing gimmicks anymore, except if they are lost anyway.
People can't force tactical play (aggressive playstyle) on players without putting yourself at a disadvantage, both have to not avoid it so that it can take place without mistakes. That is one minor, but still interesting reason, why Carlsen, a positional player, is the current #1.
You see these tendencies come up in Smash, too.

I guess that could be a bad thing depending on what you chose, mine kind of had the opposite effect. When I registered for Wifi after PM demo 1.0 came out it made me pick a tag so I chose MAD since I heard the lag would make me mad. It didn't take long before people said the name enough that it, surprisingly to me, didn't remind me of the emotion much and was just a name. Instead, it oddly made me be more keen on noticing anger itself and in other people (finding the Smash world has some sodium), and along with the Wifi training, I don't get mad much at all regarding playing Smash. In one of my early smashfests on the way home this guy/my friend drove and told me I'm pretty calm for what he expected first hearing the tag (especially since he considers himself to have a smash temper issue), and so that kind of made me enjoy the tag. Like if your tag was DoucheBag then you're more aware of what it means to be and not be one.

With your tag though, maybe you could have just been more about being wise on tiger facts; or what it means to not be overly obsessed with chess and knowing the right balance.

Yeah Dota 2 is such an awful, unskilled esport, that's why the scene is dead and they have no sponsors compared to Smash :^)

Real talk, I wasn't able to commit to Dota 2. I personally can't dual main Smash and Dota and expect to become better at both.

Part of the reason also lies within not having a group of friends interested in the game, since pub games are ****.

Bobby Fischer was a weird dude.
I think that maining Dota 2 is easier than smash, not only because its an online game, but due to the replay system great for understanding high level play. In addition, my wii and gamecube controllers don't break when I try to play Dota.

I think that its possible to main both games and be good. There is so much free time where you can't find other smashers to play that, unless you are studying guides, you are better off doing something other than losing to lvl9 cpus. I'm lucky to have friends who are semi-serious and good at the game. Camping the high ground while other scrubby teams walk into your entire team yielded us a GG quite quickly. The other team even called us good. New meta confirmed.

@ NWRL I found the pacing of the anime in yor video to be inadequate, which along with the main character's non-existent personality destroys any entertainment a person could derive from it.

I think that basketball is really action packed enough with enough scoring to really balance out the fouls. The truth is that the 2 slowest sports I've ever watched are baseball and soccer. In baseball there is no form of flopping; walks are entirely the defending team's fault. You can't deny that in high level soccer games often come down to who scored the most PKs. This doesn't meant that the sport is bad or shouldn't be popular, instead it is just flawed. I play Dota 2 which has a fatally flawed metagame based around ultimates and pushing lanes without committing, but I still think its fun and will watch and play the game.
