My school thinks I have add but it's not a really big deal, I am bad at everything in school though.

Certainly there are people who have it, and need help with it, but a lot of parents are going to over diagnose it so they can have an excuse not to correct their child's poor behaviour.

Either you're misunderstanding what you were told, or your doctor is wrong/lying. There is currently no valid neuropathology for any of the autism spectrum disorders, and as such it's also especially unlikely that there was decades ago.

to be fair i'm familiar with the information bleck mentioned before and it's a recent changed to the psychological manual in like...2013 or 2014's edition, i believe???

the idea of the scale is that there should be certain levels that require extra care, but the way people approach it instead is that because they're on the scale somewhere now, they /are/ special and deserve that particular respect and care even if they don't actually qualify for it

generally that's not the case and people aren't/shouldn't be stupid, but at the same time i can attest to what you're just saying as something that is already happening today

my teachers tried to diagnose me with adhd in like 2nd grade and then my parents got a second opinion and it turns out I didn't have adhd I was just bored

so then someone decided I was "gifted and talented" so I got to be with a "specialist" and school got more interesting and didn't suck as much

that was like elementary school though lmao I've been behaviorly relatively "normal" since middle school

Bruh gifted and talented?!? That was the best part of school for me, basically made my day to do puzzles/mental challenges for a full class period (I was a king of anagrams and sudoku). Until like 11th grade when our teacher had to take leave for cancer treatments and her replacement was a ****ty English teacher that just forced us to write extra essays during our GnT period or she'd fail us in English lol. Pretty much all the gifted students opted out of Gifted at that point
