Priority Question

You can't compare ground priority to aerial priority, at least I don't think you can. I think which ever hit-box hits the opponent first, will prevail. It's situational to just compare, unless you give us a detailed scenario.

Ground vs. Air Priority is measured by hitbox/hurtbox sizes, so it's subjective and heavily reliant on timing and positioning.

Both moves aren't obscenely disjointed so that generally if both moves come out at the same time, hits will trade.

However, if you have superior spacing, you can call the fair and execute the U-smash earlier and intercept the fair, thus beating it out entirely.

But if you fail at spacing, it's okay because since Fox is broken and has a 7 frame startup usmash, you will most likely trade with the fair unless you're just blatantly bad at Smash and do it 5 seconds late.

Soo... to answer your question...they're about the same.

EDIT: BUT the fact that Peach is still mobile while fairing and can FC puts you in a worse position if you mess up, so be diligent.

They compare, once there is an air move involved its all hitbox spacing. I would bet that the hitbox for the usmash is overall larger than the hitbox for peach's fair because i always win with fox's usmash vs peach's fair when i challenge.

edit: someone can confirm, but i remember peach's fair hitbox is actually fairly small, but her hand is also small. iirc fox's usmash hitbox is pretty wide.

too lazy to break out dolphin.

it's good to trade upsmash for fair once in a while, but you don't wanna rely on it consistently

when they're already falling and peach does the fair too late, you can run underneath and upsmash. it's most useful in killing %. (a lot of peaches will do fc fair kind of reflexively)

but, it's really bad at low percents because if you mess up you'll get tech chased -> grab, dash attack, downsmash, pain. it's risk vs reward--since it's so risky it's only worth it when the reward's very high (killing peach)
