Powering up your character?

I can't remember which thread I saw this in, but someone posted a pic of fox taken from one of the subspace videos, where it looked like Fox had some sort of "Gauntlets" around his fore-arms. The pic was pretty blurry, but it did lead to some interesting speculation about equippable upgrades, such as boots that may power up your kicks, or maybe gloves that have a freezing effect upon touch. I've been wanting this update more than a character update ever since Sakurai hinted about it.

My sick depressing guess? Probably will be like the handicap in previous games: instead of a little knockback for a jab it will go to moderate and so on.
What I would like to see is what was previously mentioned with the gauntlets and what not. That would be sweet.

there has been speculation about you being able to get special armor, that will be unlocked and played in SSE. there is a pic of fox wearing gauntlets not seen in any of previous pictures of him.

It's where fox is running from the big monster thing. Strange huh? I'm hoping that it's a power up thing for easier cpu KOs. OR better.

Yea it looks like his sleeves just fell down to his full arm. I doubt that is anything but it is an interesting find for sure. The whole "never before seen" thing is still a mystery though, and I am very curious to see what it will be.

I'm pretty sure it has to do something with powering up for a FS, since if you had seen the Subspace videos, you would see the bar to the left with a smash icon..

I just think it looks like fox's sleeve has rolled down...i can't imagine them including minor details like this, but then again, if fox was wearing gauntlets, I think they would look a little more armor-esque.

You might be able to use stuff thats not useable previous time. Like Fox's scouter, you'll be able to sense power levels!

I always thought it'd be interesting if you could buy traits for your attacks. At least your special moves. So you could have Mario's fireballs be 3x their normal size, do twice as much damage, move 50% faster, have improved knockback, and be rapid fire like Fox's Blaster. Course that'd be expensive and you'd have your whole party to worry about. Kirby could have increased sucking distance and power maybe the ability to do damage along with swallowing an opponent. Yoshi could get stronger eggs that take longer to break out of. Peach could increase the chances of the death turnip and increase flight time and what not.

That's it! Such an awesome find. If you look at the other Fox picture in that update, he still has that gauntlet thing when his arm is outstretched, so I don't think it's his sleeves. It's got to be a power-up. I just don't know what else it could be.

Or maybe during adventure mode, you get powerups, or you level up.
Power up theory: You get new items/ powerups that increase your damage done, speed, jump, etc.
Level up theory: you level up as you kill SSE enemies and bosses, thus increasing the aboved mention

hmmmmmmm I have a feeling it will be very rpg like, armor and weapons, and maybe special move upgrades. my problem is that for this idea, won't story mode have to be longer so characters don't just have 1 stage each?

Did anyone stop to think that it might just be some sort of temporary item similar to the Metal Box or the Cloaking Device? I REALLY hope it is an upgradable RPG-like element, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

I have a feeling there will be some sort of leveling system in the SSE. It would add a whole lot more depth to the already 10 long story line. I think it'd be pretty sweet.
