Thanks to the fact that Brawl always you to turn off containers random explosions can be prevented. Which brings up the thought, should Some items be allowed? or completely banned?

Some friends of mine and myself went through the item list and discussed possible items to include if a tournament was done using items. The list was fairly small but still something to look into.

Items most likely to get into a tournament:

Gooey Bomb: We did an experiment with this item and the blast it gives into bad enough to get stressed out about instant KO's and the item has a sort of strategic style of use compaired to other items.

Smokeball: This item really isn't an attack item, instead it's main use would be to cloud attacks or maybe traps.

Team Healer: Using this item requires some work and doesn't heal to much also. We found no problems with this item.

Mr. Saturn: Dispite the fact that this item isn't as passive as the rest we felt that as a shield breaker Mr. Saturn has some strategic applications. However, Mr. Saturn can be used to batter people almost like a slower verison of the fan. But since it is so easy to catch we didn't feel like it was that big of a deal.

Items that might be able to get into a tournament:

Motion Sensor Bomb: Since everyone can trip the mine, including the person who sets it down, we felt that this item may be a possiblity. Although what made us doubt it is how powerful it is.

Banana Peel: This item is very similar to the Motion Sensor Bomb with two important differences. one, you simply trip when you step on it leaving you vulnerable. two, you can't trip on it yourself if you have lain it. The second difference is our reason for questioning it.

Bumper: Our group thought that this (along with the spring) would be a great audition, we question the Bumper for the same reason we banned the Spring. Throwing it is very powerful! With the spring this causes obivious problems since it can be thrown over and over. Yet the Bumper can only be thrown once.

Some items that we considered but where banned:

Blast Box
Sandbag
Spring
Soccer Ball
Deku Nut

I don't see any reason to say why we banned them, I'm certain it is very obivious.

So if I could get some of your thoughts on items that would be great.

Don't worry about it; head into the 'Item Standard Play' threads here and in Brawl Tactical to catch up on what the current lists and arguments are; especially if you have something to add based on experience, we'd be happy to have you join the discussion. ^_^

yay for earthbound fans. Anyway, no. Items will always be banned because their spawning locations are entirely random and thus can skew the results of a match (ie. a lucky item spawn instead of skill).
