Possible substitute for mortar slide

My wii is broken, so I havent tested this in depth. I have some modifications to my controller setup on the gamecube controller, I have down taunt as special and I also have L set to special with tap jump off. I was in training attempting to mortar slide but everytime I would do it, instead I would do it with my nikita, without touching any buttons assigned to special. So it got me thinking maybe it was due to the fact that my down taunt is special or because my L is special. So perhaps by changing certain controller options, you could be able to possibly even Fsmash slide.

If someone wants to test this, please do. If someone wants to comment on my grammar or say I wasted their time, please dont.

I just tried this. And my conclusion is that you were probably pressing the wrong buttons? I was still able to mortar slide just fine and no specials were happening anywhere. I set down taunt to special, L to special, and tap jump off, no other controller modifications. Got nothing. Remember that to mortar slide its dash -> downC (to do a dash attack) -> up+z (to cancel a dash attack, press it quickly).

Also, Nikitas are inferior to mortarslides in that you are totally vulnerable until you relinquish control of the Nikita. It could possibly be good for a mix-up, but in close encounters, stick with the Snakedash.

Near impossible. Snake needs to be pushed by another force in order to do an actual sliding fsmash that doesn't fail.

another force, eh? That gets me thinking. Mario+Snake team. Fludd Snake while he charges an Fsmash, and just kinda slide him up to the enemy. Sure, it's probably never gonna work, but think of the badass factor.

or... TL dair wind effect to slide snakes fsmash...

FLUDD to shoryuken would still be far more epic.
