"If the latest rumors are to be believed, both Capcom and SEGA will reveal SEGA vs. Capcom: Great Clash Generation for the DS at TGS. The game would based as a “hybrid RPG-fighting game” with a release date scheduled for Q1 2009. The rumors also explain that SEGA would be the main developer alongside Dimps, with Capcom acting as a supervisor. The character roster is apparently unknown, though Mega Man and Sonic are expected to make an appearance. TGS begins this Thursday, so we’ll know if this rumor holds any weight soon enough."

Capcom sure like their vs games. But this seem possible and of course people would who were sad that Mega Man wasn't in Brawl can almost be 100% satisfied.

Hybrid-RPG fighting game? Sounds like a Namco X Capcom game with Sega instead.

Just Mega Man and Sonic would be enough for me. The problem is... I'm not buying this rumor, at least not yet. I've painfully learned in the past that rumors which sound too good to be true usually are too good to be true. I can't wait for confirmation, as I'll definately be intrigued should this be real.

I'm no Sonic expert, but what's interesting when you think about it is that a lot of the Sonic cast parallel the MM cast, at least in terms of design. Sonic and Megaman, Tails and Rush (canine flying partners of their respective heroes), Knuckles and Protoman, Amy and Roll, Shadow and Bass, etc. I'm not implying copying or ripping off of characters, but merely saying it would be interesting seeing these characters work together. Of course there are more likely than not going to be more series involved than just Sonic and Megaman.

I agree, I don't to get myhopes up only for it to really be an error in communication so it really meant that a SEGA game and the Cacpom vs Taskunimi(SP?) were both going to be shown.

And yes, it would be interesting to see the Sonic characters vs the Megaman counterparts.

*Crosses fingers for Bass's inclusion*

Tatsunoko VS Capcom^^

I'm kind of worried because of the lack of things that Sega would probably bring to the table.
Here's what comes off the top of my head:

Altered Beast
Billy Hatcher
Jet-Set Radio
Phantasy Star
Shenmue
Sonic the Hedgehog
Super Monkey Ball
Space Harrier
Vectorman
Virtua Fighter
Yakuza

I know I'm missing other good franchises and some of these aren't noteworthy franchises to some, but Sega has a lot of franchises under their belt. Although a cross over game with just Virtua Fighter would be kinda neat.

Yes, please bring back Vector Man. He should have replaced Sonic as Sega's mascot years ago.

If Mega Man is in this and it's on Wii, I would definitely buy this.

I was excited until I saw this.

jk, but it really is ugly.

I was actually pondering the possibilities of a crossover RPG styled game of "SquareEnix vs. Capcom," but a crossover RPG with Sega would be cool too.

It BETTER have Space Channel 5, NiGHTS, Virtua Fighter, and above all, Ristar and Ecco the Dolphin.

Also include

NiGHTS
Ristar
Alex Kidd
Samba De Amigo
Space Channel 5
Ecco the Dolphin (though highly unlikely out of all of them)

I was going to list Ecco, but I thought people would think that would be weird.

And I can't believe I forgot NiGHTS and Alex Kidd.

Plus the guy from Comix Zone, who is long overdue for a fighting game appearance.
