I never really thought about it before, but it does look like zelda has a huge advantage over MK.

Vid : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjvS-rW1jVk

the first match zelda just hands it to MK. The zelda even toys with him and gives him tons of free matches and just messes around with her upB.

There are 2 possible reasons that zelda won so easily.

1) The stage. Seeing as they were trapped in the house for so long. MK is very effective from above with aerials and such. but the zelda style was so effect it almost looks like the stage had no part in it. Dins fire can be moved, and if MK approaches from above like he tried several times, zelda uses uSmash

2) the player. Although it looked like a standard MK play style and at times he/she did get good combos and such in, maybe he was a scrub.

any thoughts on this?

LMAO! That was messed up...Zelda was just taking hits there haha! But yeah me personally against Zeldas I've had really tough matches against them. It's tough to approach them because forward smash or up smash easily rips MK apart. And MK really sucks on Luigi Mansion. =\

I'm with R1ngo. MK doesn't suck on Luigi's Mansion. There is SO MANY tricks you can do with him. ESP if your opponent sucks at quickly teching. If you think MK sucks on that map, you don't know how to play MK correctly IMHO (no offence) - either that, or haven't explored his full potential (sounds nicer, sorry lol)

The MK in that video I'd rank 2/10 (I give 1/10 for being able to hold the controller) and the Zelda a 5 or 6 outta 10.

6 > 1.

It's math!

I think the Metaknight looked pretty horrible during the part where the Zelda wasnt even fighting back, but otherwise he played fairly well. I didnt care as much for the second video so I didnt watch it.

The level appears to take a fair amount away from Metaknight, the ceilings dont really seem to limit his approach so much as they allow his opponent to tech after nearly every attack since just about everything Metaknight does sends his opponent upwards enough to hit the ceiling. I think the matchup would be fairly even normally though, mostly because Zelda makes mincemeat of Metaknights Tornado with her high priority disjointed hitboxes, and well that works with a number of his other moves as well.

Thats just my impression though, I dont really play either Metaknight or Zelda much at all so Im not entirely sure how good each was, I havent really seen many Zelda videos either, so I am even less clued in on her potential than Metaknight, but I do feel that as far as the players themselves go, the person using Zelda was noticably more skilled.

That video was a joke, right? I mean, come on, a first-grader that never played a video game, had hand paralysis, was drunk, and just mashed buttons would play much better than that MK. What kind of MK spams forward smash? The fact that the video is labeled money match just makes it that much more laughable. This video shows absolutely nothing about the MK and Zelda matchup. Sorry for sounding so harsh, but I have never seen a worse MK in my life and he isn't exactly the hardest character to just pick up and play.

Taking a second glance, he is not nearly as bad as I thought that he was. He just has absolutely no spacing whatsoever and resorts to spamming attacks. If this was truly a MM, there is no way that the MK and Zelda would be messing around in the match like they were. This leads me to think that they do not play the game in a competitive sense and should not have any representation on the matchups of their characters.

Yea i do agree with most of the things everyone is saying, that the MK was kinda scrubby, but this was the finals of the anime north convention. So the MK must of got to the finals some how. If you watch the other matches, MK wasn't as bad as he/she was on luigi's mansion.

I still think that Zelda is , and can be a great MK counter. The strategy is just too good. Most smash attacks have priority over MK's dash attack anyways, so zelda's strategy was really effective for close range. When it comes to the range game, zelda wrecks a lot more chars then MK. But the fact that pressuring MK into close combat so frequently by dins fire to have him run into higher priority attacks is very logical. The style reminds me very much of a new link style, or even snake except zelda is much, much faster then link at this style.
