Whenever I watch team tourneys, I always watch for moments when the fighters chain moves together into an effective offense. But when watching some other tourneys, certain teams will look more or less cohesive. That got me wondering. Who is the best partner for each character? Well, since I’m a casual Brawler, and I don’t have the expertise to judge, so why not ask the experts? I originally tried this on GameFAQs, but the users in general were immature, or not qualified to give the information. Then I remembered the specific boards on Smashboards, so I brought the poll here. So who do you think the best partner is for Olimar?

Rules:

- The poll will last for a week. If it becomes popular, it may last longer.
- You may only vote for one character.
- Assume friendly fire is on.
- Assume there are no items.
- After posting your answer, give a detailed reason why you choose that character. If you don’t give viable information, your vote will not be added.
- You may ask to change your vote if you have a viable reason.
- Discussion on your choices is allowed. NO FLAMES!!!
- If you vote Pokemon Trainer, you must discuss details for all his pokemon.
- If you vote on the Pokemon Trainer poll, you must discuss details for all his pokemon.
- If you want to use videos to explain your reasoning, feel free to post them, but remember. I play this game casually, so you have to explain what parts of the video are important and why they are important.
- You may vote on multiple polls.
- If issues occur, I may add or remove rules, so be sure to review the list.

Well noobie but my partner is usualy Metaknight or G&W if I am useing Olimar. But Gun to my head I would say metaknight.

My partner is usualy the one racking up damage and I come in for the KOs. Also Metaknight really helps against edgeguarding I've had him Chase me to fair me back to the stage lol Not smart but it worked! Metaknight also can spam his Dsmash lots more because he doesn't need to worry about KO. Also if MK gets s grab in and goes for Uthrow then you can set up for Uair which racks up damage fast.

I usually don't use Olimar MK though. If anything I use my DK and partner Snake Lol.

Sorry for sounding rude, but why did you make the exact same topic in each charatcer board? TBH theres no best partner imo, brawl is more about counters.

I've done very well with G&W. Both of us share very strong counterpick stages (for instance, Corneria) and both of us are pretty good counters for high teir characters like Metaknight and Snake. Also, G&W's strong approach from above compliments Olimar's strong approach from below.

Me and a guy who mained G&W managed to beat a good Snake/MK team in tournament.

I agree with the G&W choice, mostly because, IMO, G&W has a pretty bad grab range, and Olly's rocks, and their smashes are all pretty good, so if they can stick together and manage maybe Olly grabbing someone on high damage and G&W D-smashing them off, then dealing with the other person together, I can see a really good setup for a fight here. Although, I am a casual player too, (on account of the fact that I don't have Wi-fi, and there are never any tourneys where I live.:psycho:) so I'm probably not the BEST source ;)

Olimar is not a doubles partner like said by asob4. He is a lone wolf, no matter who he is paired up with his pikmin can still hit them.

Alright guys multiple have said olimar is not a doubles char, one mentioning "his pikmin can still hit them." I think just the opposite. I've placed top 5 in every tournament i've been to using olimar for doubles just because he is such a great team player. My partners have included ROB, Snake, and TL. People who use olimar in doubles need to realize you can't "spam pikmin" randomly like in singles, which shows the difference between a truly good olimar compared to an average. Teams is about helping each other out. For instance, in teams i've never been gimped on the edge when snake was my partner. You need a partner who watches out when you are off the ledge, or you must tell him you need help before you get gimped! communication is important. Snake can mortar slide and edge guard you and get off as you are about to recover, he can stop the enemy from getting on the edge, etc. And even if you are gimped it's not impossible to hit your partner and save them, especially when TL is your partner ^^
anyways, just don't throw pikmin at your partner and you good olimar ftw

I think TL is best Olimar partner because that's my partner and we do amazing on a team. TL can save you after you've been gimped extremely easily because of TL's up-b versatility, and can be very abusive in a tight situation with edge tricks. Honestly though, what someone else said how there is no "best partner" is more of how I think about the topic. It's about how you guys understand each others play styles and know when you need to stop spamming and preventing getting gimped.

i'm not saying he can't be a good doubles character, but there's just so much more to worry about.

i've done olimar on teams, i've done well with him, but i've always done better when i go GnW.

recovery is invaluable as the percents rack up so quickly in doubles, and an untimely gimp is not something you want for you and your teammate.

it's just safer to go to a character with a better recovery

lots of people are saying G&W, but unfortunately you are not likely to find a good G&W who will want to pair with an olimar. G&W criteria for teams is essentially who is bucketable... and since olimar can't fill G&W's buckets, there's no real reason to team with him. :(

The many snake/gnw teams out there tend to disagree with you. But snake is **** so thats understandable.

I am going to vote for diddy.
IMO, diddy is one of the best teamates for olimar. Diddy is a small, fast character that is very good at comboing, but lacking kill moves. Olimar is a small fast character with great ko moves... thus they complement each other nicely, plus they both have projectiles to use for when they play campy characters. But aside from that, my main reasoning for liking this team is the combo potneial between the two. A lot of diddy's moves put people in positions to be up-smashed by olimar... d-throw, d-smash when olimar is behind diddy... f-smash, d-smash, f-throw when olimar is in front of diddy. The thing about this combo that makes it so well is that aside from snake, olimar is the only person to come to mind that has a ko move that lines up with the trajectory that most of diddy's moves send people. As for the banannas.... good olimar players pay attention to there pikmin lineup, so they can pay attention to another two things on the screen, so you normally don't mess them up, worse case they can throw a pikmin to stop the bannana. Diddy can watch out for olimars gimpible recovery by throing a bannana at the ledge hogger. There is more i can say, but by now we all know about me and my lack of effort policy haha
