Pokemon Shoddy Team Building

So I'm sitting in class being bored and thought I'd post this. Basically I shoddy almost everyday. I do a little of OU but the majority of UU. So whats the point of this thread? Well I'm looking to find other players who want to share their ideas on building teams. I get most of my team ideas in class so I'll go ahead and start by saying I'm building a new OU team based around Metagross/Dragonite.

Now I have to do some number crunching for EV's but I know that Gross will run the set:

Meteor Mash
Bullet Punch
Earthquake
Explosion/Thunder Punch

The thinking behind Thunder Punch is Gyra wall everything on the set barring Attack boost. But explosion is always a nice way to take someone with me. I don't know if I want to Baton Pass an Agility/Sword Dance to him but I do know with the great typing and the ability to shift ground/fire attacks to Dragonite that gross needs to be more than just a lead.

Dragonite is a different story. Most of the time this poor son of a ***** is just forgotten for Mence or Latias. I've never used one so I'm open to suggestions on what to put on him. Previously I've had success with a Special Mence so maybe a Mixnite or pure Special is the way to go for me.

What I need help on is surrounding these *****es with good support and a lead that can give me rocks. I'm currently thinking Azelf as lead but I'm also leaning toward Ninjask to give some speed boosts to gross. The problem with Jask is that Gross is a common as **** lead and almost always carrys BP, so even if I get the boost I wont get a SD without dying. The other problem is he doesn't put up hazards and he is pretty useless from early game on.

So give me some ideas, post your team building ideas, or just some ev spreads that you are trying to tweak.

This should have been posted in the Poke Center Rating Room.

I'm willing to try to help, but there are more people who frequent shoddy who would be much more helpful.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, you should wait to post in the Rating Room, unless you want multiple people there to point out that you should read the rules for posting there (one of which being you need a full team.

I always had a hard time putting pokemon on my team that have a 4x weakness.

But then maybe you shouldn't take advice from me, I use Rapidash as a sweeper <_<

if you really want rocks on a lead, you could just use azelf, it's standard because it works well. it's a solid choice, but testing it with that will let you figure out whether your team really needs the early rocks or not.

also, I think running Agility over bullet punch on gross would eliminate the need to support it with passed boosts, just bring it in on a resisted hit and boost up in the endgame, but that might be a totally different purpose for gross than what you're looking for. Defensive gross is really good as well if your team needs that, it's much better offensively than skarm (the only comparable steel wall) and can bluff a lot of different things and run coverage moves to stop sweepers like gyara and mence.

I really, REALLY like the leadnite set (LO max atk/spatk -spe nature meteor/speed/eq/fire blast), simply because dragonite's pretty bulky and will be able to beat sashers with extremespeed, and it'll be able to get in a powerful hit on whatever switches in. most common switch-in to a leadnite is a steel after you force the sash activation by attacking first turn. as a bonus later in the game he will never be flinchhaxed to death, so he can be an emergency stop vs a hax abuse jirachi/togekiss/whatever.

some beginning thoughts.
