Unfortunately, I cant trust anyone to kill them. So I will see you all in the morning. I have the Phoenix Wright gifs ready and everything. It's going to be grand.

When the raft went ashore the next morning, Meowth and Pikachu disembarked in silence. Isle Abeens had become a looming spectre in their minds.
They tried their best to feign vitality, but they'd had little rest. Unsettling dreams of their departing friends had been pierced in the middle of the night by sudden, tortured screams from their still-comatose Trainer. It took an hour for the fit to pass, and afterwards neither dared sleep.
If Tyranitar felt the same, its face didn't betray it. From the moment they brought it out, its face was as cold and hard as stone as it always had been. Certainly it'd heard the commotion - its ball was kept in the same room.
Pikachu took a glance at the beast and grumbled something under his breath. Meowth couldn't quite make out what, but it seemed some mix of jealousy at their companion's good slumber and a creative use of a pineapple.
There was no need to assemble the 'mons today - they'd already gathered around something. The air seemed different, excited even. At the pair's approach, they began to part - and revealed a most welcome sight.
: Ledian! You're healed!
"Looks that way. But, uh, I found something you guys are gonna want to see."
He held out a hand to show an empty Poké Ball. It was completely intact, but registered as both "used" and "empty" - definitely still one of theirs.
: Do we know whose it was?
"We had a few people who didn't show up this morning. I suggested we go looking, but everyone started crowding around me." Ledian shrugged, and Meowth took a brief headcount. They gave a slight gasp, and, renewed by adrenaline, they straightened and swept out their hand.
: We've got three people missing! Sweep the island and find them!

And there, in the center of it, were two battered forms and two obliterated Poké Balls.

More of the shadows were coming into focus in Meowth's mind. Yes...yes, they knew several these would have fit, but...some remained unresolved. They put a hand to their head. Why hadn't they taken a longer look?

The search was renewed, and Meowth hoped it would not end in further tragedy.
