i really hope they dont add new pokemon characters or mario characters. I mean the original characters were good but they werent fun to use. making more pokemon will just push it, there arent that many attacks that really did a lot of damage. they should maybe make one new pokemon and keep the old ones. then just put pokemon in the pokeballs. and for mario characters. i love using mario as a character but making more characters like peach and luigi. boswer was a good character too. If they do make new mario characters give them differnt attacks at least. they should add more characters like sora or from final fantasy.

Pokemon do have enough reps as is, but I wouldn't mind seeing one more in there. I saw the Pokemon movie Lucario is in today on Cartoon Network and actually grew a small fondness for him. Him and his thunder thighs.

Mario's franchise is pretty well rep'd too, I'd say. I include Yoshi, DK, and now Wario in the same category is Mario, because even though they have their own games, they're all still very much a part of the Marioverse to me. Even if DK's technically the first one to have a game. He kinda gets shafted there.

So no more Mario characters. Unless it's Toad.

I'd...call someone a dirty name to see him in. Maybe hit somebody in the arm.

I love me some pokemon, so really I wouldn't mind another slot eaten by them. Realistically speaking, we won't see more than one new poke slot and one new Mario slot, so don't worry too much. Probably won't even see a new Mario one, seeing as Wario counts for them (a little.)

I have to agree with you somewhat, If any Pokemon please please, make them good, Pichu just ruined Pokemon for me. I hated Peach (no offense) I found her boring and her moves were somewhat awful. Though there's people out there who are pros with her you may see more of her, and fans, and it's Mario's girl. I think the only reason we get sucky characters is because there is a population of gamers who don't play like most people here, good. Some people are just casual and like playing the game like a kid. We all know Nintendo, they make games for ALL audiences or at least include some of those childish or casual traits in all their games.

I disagree with the Sora comment, h2ownage, but I don't see him in Brawl.

On topic, Pokemon characters are overdone. If you take out one, there's like thousands of suggestions immediately popping up. Mario characters aren't so bad, because a lot of people have added very creative suggestions. But with Pokemon, it's almost ridiculous. Meowth, Lucario, Blaziken, Deoxys [who has been de-confirmed], Scizor...the suggestions are endless. Why can't it be like that with other game series?

Yeah, they are the most original characters, but the suggestions are overwhelming. And after Pichu, I just kind of lost some hope of any type of decent Pokemon characters being added. :[ But then again, I do have faith in Sakurai, so I'm not really complaining..

Pokemon are good for filling out unique styles of play that can’t be done with normal characters…or at least they have the potential to do so. Pikachu uses electricity, which no other major Nintendo character can use, but he’s about the only one, since Jigs is a physical fighter outside of singing, Pichu is a clone, and Mewtwo’s psychic spot was already used by Ness. All in all though, they play differently though (maybe not Pichu) and provide a unique moveset. Give me one eligible fighter Pokemon (Not birds or fish, otherwise) and I can come up with a unique move set, and I’m sure Sakurai could also.
Mario characters are starting to reach their limit, of good candidates, but they also have some unique fighters left, so one more should be good.

There has to be a limit though, I know that. Mario had the most in Melee, and as that is Nintendo’s star franchise, it makes sense. Taking out Dr. Mario and adding a new character in seems about right to me, and the same thing with Pokemon, with taking out Pichu. I know there has to be a limit to these characters, otherwise the game would just be renamed Mario vs. Pokemon, but those two franchises always had a bit more than any of the others. (Well LoZ caught up to Pokemon in Melee, but that’s another story)
