Playing aggressive/defensive as Fox depending on the matchup

I'm trying to finetune my Fox in certain matchups.

I feel like Fox can be played both really aggressively and really campy - you can rush the **** in and nair or whatever, or you can laser camp and look for grabs or usmashes etc. And I think Fox is supposed to be aggressive in some matchups, because he's the fastest character in the game and his speed obviously makes aggro Fox really good. But he also has a gun, and in some cases campy Fox can be really effective.

For what matchups should Fox be aggressive, and when (if ever) should you camp? I feel like, for example, Fox should always be on the aggressive against Falcon, always throwing nairs out etc. What about against characters like Luigi, Samus, Peach, Jigglypuff? Or Mario/Doc? Laser camping against like Peach etc is viable, especially because it's not that easy to be super aggro against Peach or Samus with the fear of your nair getting cc dsmashed. Against Peach and Puff you can look for grabs and get uthrow uairs but against like Luigi and Samus, or Mario/Doc, grabs don't do much for you.

I see different Foxes handle these matchups in different ways. For example Jman plays really campy against Peaches, I saw his set vs Vwins, and I know it's a viable tactic. Then you have Mango who seems to play super aggressive no matter what character he's playing. What's the best way to play these floatier matchups? How should aggressive Fox be played against Luigi/Samus etc?

I camp when I can safely play my distance, no reason not to, it's free damage.
I bait and mindgame when they are trying to play their range on me until I get an opening and try to punish as hard as possible. I play a temporary defensive/reactive game when I'm being aggro'd.

The details are basically variable dependant and change along with the matchups.

if you're getting wrecked when you approach, make them approach you and punish that.

you can't really laser CF (he can knee you out of it) but basically every other character can be laser camped to force the approach. once you're close don't let off.

almost everyone camps in games.

Switch between both and approach at the right times. Most smashers' weakness is that they are bad at approaching and attack at the wrong times.

i.e. they are so comfortable with sitting back and waiting for openings that when the opening presents itself they fail miserably.

Vs. Floaties you should ideally be playing the camping game. If they can't be uthrow->uaired, then laser laser waveshine usmash (or just usmash).

Another way you could fight it out would be hit&run.

Laser, weave around level using Fox's speed, attack with bair or pressure for a bit, run, repeat process.

With this method, when you shine them towards an edge, or get a knockdown, you're actually in a position to get your head into the game and get aggressive. I prefer to play vs. Peach/Samus/Luigi like this. Eventually, even when you're camping for time or w/e, you're going to have to get in there and land a hit for a kill. Learning to utilize your character's speed and movement capabilities to land those hits is important.

Aggressive and intelligent CCing also play into this. (CC dtilt, CC usmash, CC shine)
