Hey everyone!

I'm pretty new to organizing tournaments and advertising them, But I just got a job at Play N' Trade and told them I could help out. So I'm going to start posting them here.

VENUE INFORMATION:
The Brawl tournament can only go on for 2 hours max. After the tournament, Stick around for some Melee friendly's and we're also having a Modern Warfare 2 Tournament after the Brawl tournament. We will set up 1-3 HDTV's for the brawl tournament. Although there is Wendys next door for your enjoyment, We do not allow foods or drinks in our store. We here at Play N' Trade try to commit to treating the customers fair. So with the same respect that we show you, Please respect the tournament.

Tournament Sign ups will stop around 30 minutes before the tournament starts or once we are full.

The Price for entering the tournament is 10$.

General Rules you should already know:
-NO CURSING! Occasional Smack talk will be allowed, But please try to cut down on cursing. Remember; This is a store. All ages especially younger kids enter our store to purchase games.
-B.Y.O.C. BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER! Although we have many new Official Nintendo Controllers for sale, We may not open them for the tournament and all we have is used controllers. Therefore we can not guarantee a controller for everyone. So either bring your own or plan on buying a controller from us.
-Our staff will NOT be held responsible for your personal items. If you lose something, all we can do is help find it.

-3 Stock
-8 Minutes
-No Items

Neutral :
* Battlefield
* Final Destination
* Pokemon Stadium (Melee)
* Smashville
* Yoshi's Island

Counterpicks :
* Battleship Halberd
* Brinstar
* Castle Siege
* Delfino Plaza
* Frigate Orpheon
* Jungle Japes
* Lylat Cruise
* Rainbow Cruise

If both players agree to play on a specific map, we will allow it.

Each player may chose a stage that they ban

If you don't show up within the 5 minutes your match, We will move on to the next round with the only person present moving on as a win. We WILL look for you at Wendy's if we can't find you in store. We ask for you to eat outside our store instead for ease of access so we can find who's in our tournament and who isn't.

The Last final matches will be saved as replay and will be put up on Youtube in the best quality available! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xICfN9uh_qc reference for how good the quality will be)

Finally, The Prizes is currently T.B.A. (To Be announced) Depending on how many people enter.


Side Note : Although it may look like we're new. The store is actually pretty experienced with tournaments as we've had it every week with 10-20 people showing up. However after starting to work here and about to enter last saturdays tournament, Only 5 people showed up. So really the only thing new to us is advertising on AiB and here

If it does start to get a bit high, I will try to convince my manager/boss to use more TVs. We have oh so many TVs but not that much Wii / brawl discs to use. So I may end up changing it to Please bring your own wii's.

You're better off...a 40 person tourney can take 8 hours with singles and doubles...

Also, brawl tournament isn't really possible to run in 2 hours if you have 40-50 people especially on just 3 TVs (and I mean physically impossible)

And I may have missed it but did you mention whether it was single or double elimination?

Sorry if it sounds like I'm being a jerk, I'm just trying to tell you that you shouldn't expect much support from the brawl community. Also, your prizes will probably be store credit with a huge fee from the entrance fees given to the store. Not saying it's possible for your store to do it a different way, just that it's not what we are used to.

where in my post did i say together ? ... i'm just saying period ... melee has pretty much returned ... the numbers are amazingly high ... just asking if the store was going to host a melee event anytime soon

hdtv's aren't good for melee or brawl anyway. you need crt's for no lag.

Make the timer 8 minutes long and remove pictochat from the stage selection if you hope to improve the amount of people who show up.

There is NO chance that brawl would finish in 2 hours with doubles and singles. Matches take too long regardless of the amounts of setups, people still have to finish matches.

I'd also suggest a payout as the prize based on attendence just like how viridian has(since you're familiar with their thread).

The tv's aren't good quality for brawl(like Yes! already stated). We'd end up bringing our own tv's as well as wii's. We'd have to have room for them as well.

It would be nice to have another area to host tournaments so it's a good effort advertising here for brawl, but if you can't alter your rules a bit or get more time for the events then it's not going to be successful.

I've Changed the time limit to 8 minutes, removed the tournament limit ( Doesn't really matter since tournament is in 2 days and no one has signed up online yet), and removed Picto chat from Counter picks.

As for TV's, we use Flat Screen HDTVs, So they shouldn't actually lag with component cables

Good about the timer and picto.

Component cables help for sure, but there is still lag on those tv's.

Even if your event in 2 days isn't successful, if you plan on doing other events please continue to post them on here. It can't hurt and it should help them grow.

I spoke to my boss today and apparently there is no exact time the tourney can end.

Apparently we're going to start the Modern Warfare 2 tournament on the other TV's we have even if our brawl tournament isn't over.

I know you guys are complaining about the lag from the TVs, but there's no way we can let you bring your own. We have no room for them. Our store has 7 Flat Screen HDTVs set up on the wall. There's no real Tables we could put your TV's on. Sorry, Guess you're just going to have to make do with that tiny little lag.

Really though, I don't think it will throw you off that much, Since your opponents will also have that little lag to deal with. It's still a fair brawl.

Timing being thrown off for both players hardly makes the game fair for many reasons. One of many being recovery but theres no need to get into that. Oh well though, if it can't be helped then so be it. I won't be attending them but best of luck all the same.

The tv's lag will be a huge issue man. Good luck but I doubt any serious players will want to go to this.

I think some will.

My boss told me that in the past M2K has visited once or twice and some of our regulars played him. The regulars we have are also pretty serious brawlers and they seem to make due.

I doubt it.

They probably aren't serious about the game if nobody on here knows them. Doesn't matter though. If you work something out to have non-laggy setups please post it in the future.

Well if you wanna come and brawl and possibly win the cash prizes dealing with lag on HDTVs, Go ahead. But I really don't think I can convince my boss to let our players bring their own TV's to use since #1 We have no room and #2 I'm still too new.

Well originally it's store credits for every 5-20 people who come. But if we get more, We're probably going to split all the money we made and give it to the winner. To be honest I'm not sure, but my boss said it was a varied.

We didn't think we'd get that much entrees, So no we aren't doing doubles this time. But if we get more popular, We may in the future.

I don't believe I said the prize was store credit. For this tournament, The prize will likely be cash. Same with the Modern Warfare 2 Tournament after.
