Jake is definitely dropping Yoshi
I don't get it... is this supposed to say what jump height you need? If so, keep in mind that when you jump with the control stick, you can jump anywhere between a short-hop and a full-hop (so this means you can mid-hop, for want of a better term).

you can do a slightly higher than shorthop jump with an analog stick...so a short stick hop.
this is just a guide to like do the samllest possible jump but still be able to attack and land on the platform, like dk does when he shorthops onto a dreamland platform, he can perform an aerial and almost immediatley perform another.

Its listing what kind of jumps to use in order to platform cancel, the player can figure out the heights.
@BY, I think he is doing this for keyboard players.
I guess keyboard players are SOL here.

That's what I thought when I first read the tittle.

Anyway, does it need to be Z-Canceled, W/ or W/O an aerial?
I've never tried that without pressing Z for canceling my aerials, does it produce any lag if not canceled?
I can't test right now. <_<

Yes they do need to be z-canceled, unless you use an aerial that cancels itself automatically after a certain amount of time. Luigis d-air for example.

If I understand the point of this guide correctly, Falcon's should say:
•Left & Right Platforms (Running)
- Full hop with C

Anyways, I'd say this isn't the kind of thing you learn from a guide. :ohwell:

I was about to say/write/post something like that, these are things we see when we play (even by accident)
I just made the Z-canceling quiestion, because I always press Z to cancel my moves even when there's no need to, as DK's Fair?

Full hop with C does not ledge cancel on the left and right platforms with falcon

I tested it. It is fast but it doesnt ledge cancel perfectly, meaning there is no hangtime in between jumping and landing on the platform.
I thought ledge canceling meant, err, canceling something at a ledge.
Most of those you listed don't platform cancel perfectly, using your definition of it. And I see Luigi's full hop to the middle platform as way worse than what I listed for Falcon. Also, Falcon does get both hits of a fair and it works wonders for combos.

Everything on the list ledge cancels perfectly. Luigis full hop with the control stick does cancel perfectly on the middle platform, you just have to use the full potential of your jump. Some cancels like marios running on the left and right dont require specific timing. His cancel on the middle platform on the other hand requires specific timing on the double jump. Yes falcons fair works good on the left and right platforms but it doesnt ledge cancel perfectly, that is why I cant add that to the list

@Dan$inyi The thing is that these type of things are not for a Gude, maybe tips for low lvl.

Thanks for doing this, it's useful simply because it brings platform cancelling to the front of my mind. I'll now play (for the next few days at least) with the mindset of being careful with my jumps to increase my playspeed.

Implementing platform cancelling into your game will lengthen your combos and also help you learn new ways to combo that youve never thought would work =]

@Dan$inyi IMO Tips for this thread title would have been more appropriate than guide.

Also, just for future references, try avoiding double+ posting.
