PK Trainer in Brawl = New way to have Pokemon Battles?

I think the concept behind the Pokemon Trainer in Brawl can be extended to outside of the Smash universe and be used in the mainstream Pokemon Games.

Maybe the four special attacks are your B-buttons and combat is in real-time instead of tun base. It seems to be working pretty well in Brawl, so what do you guys think if Nintendo and Gamefreak decided to further work out the idea and give Pokemon a bit of more active role in combat.

I think he's trying to say that what if Pokemon became played like Smash Bros. I'm sure it would be pretty interesting to become so skilled that you could defeat a Garchomp using a Pichu. In all seriousness, this would be interesting, but putting in 493 pokemon would be really difficult. Besides, Pokemon is meant to be a strategy game. If such a game was made, it would resemble the anime more than the video game. The concept would be nice, as long as it doesn't destroy the wonderful strategy behind the game.

Thanks for actually getting what I'm talking about ORLy.
I should've put Spin-off instead of mainstream at the beginning lol

It could be like a sort of spin-off game like Mystery Dungeon and Rangers, maybe a new version of Pokemon Stadium. in this way it won't effect the mainstream pokemon series and we can still try out the new method of playing pokemon.

man ,i was thinking the same thing ,its really not a bad concept and considering that they have put so many pokemon characters on smash anyone may get that idea right of the bat ,now if they figure out how to balance the pokemon out it would be awesome ,the stages are no biggie but the only problem would be the move sets ,how to make them all unique and not the same .a lot off things are possible with that concept

Well, I Doubt it would happen but it would be amazing
and we weren't expecting an RPG like Colosseum when the Gamecube came out, we were
expecting Stadium 3 so,
Who Knows? Nintendo/Game Freak may already have this in mind!

Even if it was just a spin-off of the main pokemon series, I still think it would be a good idea. The biggest problem I have with pokemon is that sometimes, turn-based combat can get boring. I don't think Nintendo would be too willing to change such an integral part of the mechanic in one of their biggest series, though.

This has my vote.

Throw Mystery Dungeon and Ranger out the window and take a more conventional, yet interesting and innovative, approach. I might actually buy more than 1 of those games, and I probably wouldn't sell it back. *cough*Mysterydungeonwasawasteof30bucks*cough*well17afterIsolditback*cough*

...stupid allergies. :p

I wouldn't mind a side game pokemon fighter, but I would hate it if they changed the regular game into a fighter.

I like to play pokemon as a slower paced game while I'm watching a movie or some other activity. I also love breeding and training pokemon to fight in tournaments.

I think this idea is exactly along the lines of some of my ideas regarding the 5th Generation of the games (here's the thread). I completely agree with you on this type of gameplay, as it would get the player involved with the gameplay tenfold as you actually control the Pokemon, run around with them, and attack. Even when you are not battling, you could release a Pokemon to explore areas that perhaps the Pokemon Trainer could not normally explore (up in trees, water, the air, underground, etc), but he could follow you, or walk around, keeping an eye out for you.

Also, to all of those who think it's a fighter in the style of Super Smash Bros - this would not be viewed from the side like all fighters are - this would essentially be an adventure game, but you actually play as the Pokemon and the Pokemon Trainer. I love the idea, I would definitely buy this.

This is a great idea. I like the turn-based system, but so often it's just like 'thunderbolt, thunderbolt or whatever, dead.' I'd love if combat were somewhat more like the anime where sometimes one attack is more appropriate whan another, ie. tackle actually being useful if you time it right, instead of repeatedly using whichever of your 4 attacks happens to be super-effective.

It would be cool to have a game like this but I have a couple of problems with it.
1)Pikachu would own all >_<
2)Look at the above
3)Limited Amount of Moves
4)Too easy to KO

Pros:
1)Real-Time
2)Different

What I want:
1)Ability to upload pokemon
2)X, Y, and Z axises. Completely 3-D, not sidescrolling
3)Using surroundings to your advantage(Iron tail may break rocks into pieces, which you can throw.)

It would be cool :)
