I played Mother 3 during a tough time in my life. Also started playing Brawl alot during that time alot too. Mother 3 and Lucas's story touches my heart. Everytime I play Brawl, I play as Lucas..feels like a direct extension of my soul, lol.I like Xenoblade, but it definitely won't beat Mother 3 as the game that impacted me the most. Funnily enough my 3 favorite characters in Smash, are some of the most personality depth Nintendo protagonists, Ike, Lucas, and Shulk.
Yeah, before Lucas and Shulk, he was most likely the most dynamically made Ninty character up at that point. I really recommend the game if you're liking the grand scale of Xenoblade, probably the grandest feeling FE game rivaled by it's sequel Radiant Dawn and old favorite Genealogy of the Holy War. I always like characters that have a noticable sense of internal stuggles.I've heard Ike is good, too. I need to play Path of Radiance one day.
Me and a bunch of other pre-release Shulk supporters have a private convo, and we've talked about this more times than I can count. It's a shame that a certain meme makes people not really understand how deep Shulk's character is though... :/Shulk's really, really growing on me the further I get in Xenoblade. He certainly has a very defined character arc, more than even Lucas. And it's all pretty subtle- we get to see his change instead of it being sudden. I'd argue he's one of the best-written protagonists in a Nintendo game, but I haven't played nearly enough games to fairly compare. In terms of games I've played, though, he's one of the more well-defined.
It does make me sad. I mean, the meme is funny, but it's basically become his entire character and that's VERY far from what he is in Xenoblade.Me and a bunch of other pre-release Shulk supporters have a private convo, and we've talked about this more times than I can count. Both games, in my opinion, are smart stories done right. By that, I mean they make you think about things you normally wouldn't, but it never feels pretentious or condescending in the slightest.http://socksmakepeoplesexy.net/index.php?a=mother3
So, this is a good read guys. I'll warn you, it's long, but it's really good. It reminded me about alot of the depth behind Mother 3's plot, and another reason i love it so much. It's alot like Xenoblade aswell in terms of it's plot that makes you think and such, and how well made and done it is.
Also, don't let the title of the website turn you away, it's not what you think, it's not some porn site or anything like that, i promise.
Thank you for this, I'll make sure to check it out.http://socksmakepeoplesexy.net/index.php?a=mother3

But Dunban though. It does make me sad. I mean, the meme is funny, but it's basically become his entire character and that's VERY far from what he is in Xenoblade.
I knew there was more to him than a certain feeling going in, but I didn't realize how well-written he was. I think he might tie with Lucas for my favorite Nintendo protagonist of all time... Heck, he might have at least passed Dunban and Riki in terms of my favorite characters in Xenoblade at the point of the game I'm at.

I think I'll just have them both share my favorite game ever spot.
Until a few of the most recent scenes with Shulk I've hit, Dunban was my favorite. He's still VERY close. He's suave and awesome and just kicks all of the butt. Anyone who can make a move called Blossom Dance made of epic deserves all of the praise. But Dunban though.
Completely agreed. Dunban's my favorite! But Dunban though.
We won't get wave four until the end of May, and preorders are absolute hell. There's nothing I want more than Ness and Lucas. It makes me smile to see how much this thread has picked up since Lucas returned.
It warms my heart.
Oh and my Ness Amiibos arrived today
Play it on your Wii or Wii U virtual Wii (through emulation, of course.) It feels much better to play the game on actual Nintendo hardware. Maybe I'm just being weird. So I found my 3DS and deleted that girl's FC! :D
I'll probably replay Mother 3 sometime after my overheating laptop gets cleaned out.
Hi!I got Ness today! Super happy. Hi btw @ Spazzy_D .
Actually, gonna keep the whole thing is spoilers just to make things a teeny bit easier.Decided to read that analysis this morning, and yeah, it was indeed much longer than I expected lol. Quite a bit of it maintains a level of interpretation by the author, so there's bound to be disagreements (for instance, I lean more toward the "dumbed down" side when it comes to various gameplay elements). I did appreciate the section that discussed the intricacies of how the Tazmily "community" worked before and after the time skip though, the whole "close-knit band of brothers and sisters" versus "self-centered and separated modern society" thing, and why the town's urbanization was such a big deal.
However, I feel like there's another key point to the story's theme that wasn't addressed regarding the origins of the people in Tazmily and the choices they made. When Porky chastises them for those decisions, there's a definite element of "those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it" - perhaps more specifically, "learn from your mistakes instead of running from them". This is still framed within the overarching theme of "humans are flawed", and it does fit well, but for me at least I now have trouble really taking the initial "close-knit band of brothers and sisters" version of Tazmily that seriously because of the faulty reasoning that led up to it. In that sense it even starts to take a bit of priority over the "modernization is bad" theme displayed throughout other parts of the game. Certain real-life experiences tend to make me more receptive to the "learn from your mistakes" idea though, so it's not like I hold anything against the author for not talking about it or anything. We all focus on different things because of how we were shaped beforehand, and stories as rich as Mother 3's bring that to the forefront.
YEAH MORE ACTIVITY!!! It's also sad when I go to some parts of this forum and the social threads aren't active at all, I think I at one point saw a social thread with up to only like 12 pages. It makes me smile to see how much this thread has picked up since Lucas returned.

Does anyone here ever get that daydream of somehow contacting Nintendo and going through their love affair with Smash Brothers, the Mother series and stuff?
I wish Nintendo of Australia actually had an e-mail service. @.@
Yep. I'm so lucky. (I've heard that 14 is a lucky number, and I was born on the 14th of that month)June confirmed best month. E3 and Lucas.
"Get rekt scrub" for new Lucas taunt please.I like this much better than the official reveal trailer.
That's a Mother game for you. Constantly flipping between hilarious and heart-wrenching.So this is kinda funny in a morbid way.
So you go up the ladder to find a ripped piece of Hinawa's dress, and the atmosphere is great. The jingle when you pick it up is depressing as hell, and the music is great.
Then you enter the cave next to it.
You run into this lil fella
And this plays:
ITOI!
I'm oddly in love with your avatar.I like this much better than the official reveal trailer.
